That's impossible, how can I mail it and have them receive it the next day? They should have an expiration date at least a week or two away, so that I can first receive and activate the new Pixel 9, copy stuff over (if needed), delete all my personal info from the Pixel 6 ("You will remove all Device data and personal information, passwords, security software, or user locks."), then ship it to them and leave time for shipping carrier to get it to them.
So I reluctantly backed out at the final step.

How did you get the imei number from ebay purchase?
You do not need to use the new phone when it arrives but you do need to keep the line you "upgraded" the new phone on active for 2 years to get all the credits. If you cancel the line or pay off the phone early, you'll lose the rest of the monthly credits. Also, you won't be able to "upgrade" that line again till you've paid off the new phone.

I just did the same and had the eBay seller send me the IMEI via eBay message once they confirmed my payment. Found an S10e in good shape for like $85.

I just went through with a pixel 6 after the order. It tells you you have 30 days to return it after receiving device
