I have a Pixel 6 to trade in that I bought from T-Mobile 3 years ago, so the website already has the IMEI. I went all the way through the checkout process, everything looked good. But then I carefully read the Trade In Terms document. It said the Trade In expires on 11/23/2024 (tomorrow). If you then click on the link in that document that takes you to https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce...d-t-c.html , it says "If you fail to return your Device by the trade-in expiration date, you may be required to pay back any value or credit advanced to you." It also says "...if you sell your Device online or over the phone, we will honor the Offer Price if: (1) your Device is received by us by the Offer Price trade-in expiration date."
That's impossible, how can I mail it and have them receive it the next day? They should have an expiration date at least a week or two away, so that I can first receive and activate the new Pixel 9, copy stuff over (if needed), delete all my personal info from the Pixel 6 ("You will remove all Device data and personal information, passwords, security software, or user locks."), then ship it to them and leave time for shipping carrier to get it to them.
So I reluctantly backed out at the final step.
This deal worked on my Simple Choice plan -- via T-App, traded in S21FE, total was the $35 DCC + state tax.
You'll actually be fine with the trade in. Just placed my order and this is verbatim from my confirmation email from T-Mobile:

What's next?
Once that cool new device is in your hands, get started on these important next steps.
Trade in your old device
Once your new Pixel 9 Pro ships, you'll have 30 days to send back your current Google GVU6C Pixel 7 5G 128GB White - T-Mobile in good condition to retain your promotional value of $800.00.

Can I use the second slot with an international sim overseas? I am planning to send this to a friend overseas and give him my free line as well until I figure out how to unlock it.

I just got my phone from this deal and you can't because the phone is locked on both SIM slots, even more weird is I put T-Mobile on eSIM and put a foreign SIM into the physical slot and it shows as locked but also won't let me turn that SIM off like I can on my unlocked Pixel 7

Won't be able to use an international ESIM in this for 2 years, unless you pay off the EIP and lose the Bill Credits.
I stick with physical sims so I can swap phones without calling T-Mobile every time. You can still use an international Esim for travel, as long as the phone is unlocked.

When is the earliest I can give this phone to someone overseas? I don't mind parting with a free line for 2 years as well in esim and hoping that they can use the physical sim.

We have several S21s right now...the oldest model able to trade in for this promo is the S9. The S21s are working fine (we're not power users) so we'd like to hold off as long as we can to get the newest phones at that time.
Anyone think they'll have a similar promo next year where the S21 will still qualify for maybe a Pixel 10?

It cannot be unlocked until it has been paid off.

In the past, people got the device on EIP, paid it off early and requested an unlock. Tmobile changed its terms recently where if you pay off early you stop getting the bill credits effectively making people stuck with tmobile for 2 years.

Two years. At that point the phone will be paid off and you can request it to get unlocked. Even if your net monthly payment on the phone is $0, there is a monthly phone cost that's being offset by the $800 promotion. And T-Mobile will not unlock the phone until it is completely paid off. You could pay the phone off early to get it unlocked early but then you'd lose the remaining prorated credit on the $800. This deal isn't suited for what you want to do with the phone.

My guess is 'definitely'.

Unfortunately I don't see that under Account Activity.
For what is worth I'm on the same boat. Nothing posted in my Account Activity. I did go to the store to return it and after 10 minutes of playing with his tablet the associate told me "sorry - the system is down" I guess this system is the same as the ice cream machine at McDonalds.

Can you share your experience with doing in store trade-in?

Those who did this deal, did you get a slip to include with your trade-in device or just a shipping label? I don't usually do trade-ins, but I recalled having to include a slip in past trade-ins but I don't see one that came with my label
Just a label, but I don't plan on shipping it.

Last trade in I shipped, they claimed they never received it after 3 months. Promo code fell off my line and I had to deal with T-Force for 2 months to get my credit promo reinstated. Had UPS proof of delivery to T-Mobile. Also didn't get the Costco card because of it(doesn't apply to this deal,) thankfully I eventually got $100 bill credit.

Since this one is essentially free after trade in, can I trade/sell it without repercussions before 2 years? Im still planning to keep tmobile for a long time, just not the phone.

Just got my XL last night. OEM locked from the start. Enabled developer options before connecting to any network.

OEM unlocking grayed out and says " Unavailable on carrier-locked devices."

I've read AT&T versions may be able to be OEM unlocked before setting up.

Does anyone have a screenshot of the trade in conditions showing scratches are ok by any chance? Thanks in advance.
