some people don't want to pay sales tax so they look to b&h/payboo.
some people have gcs and/or credits at other places like Adorama
some people want the code+materials so they can re-sell studio without having to email the code to the buyer (in a professional way)
many people can get cb from buying with retailers
I just bought for the same price from Blackmagic and they emailed me the serial number so that I don't need to wait for it to come in the mail. No reason to buy from a third party site.

My reading comprehension was a bit off.
I thought why would anyone buy the combo when they're cheaper separately.
But the combo is for the older Micro Panel, not the newer Micro COLOR Panel.
The newer one is better designed to work with an iPad and has a much needed Add Node button.
The older one has better feeling trackballs/wheels, but everyone complained about the lack of a Node button.
I'm tempted by this, but undecided.

Blackmagic is a great company that makes great products. One of the few, if only, that I can still honestly say that about. Make Perpetual licenses the norm again.
Is Resolve becoming the industry standard or is it more "Prosumer"? I've been using Final Cut for years cause I had a Mac but know no one else really uses it anymore.

Didn't Apple or adobe start the subscription nonsense?
Blackmagic design, the movers and shakers in the industry setting the correct trends. Really if it wasn't for them, cameras would still cost 6 figures, and editing software would still cost thousands of dollars, everyone in the industry sees what they are doing and follows suit. I've been using just the free version since version 15 and it's amazing how far it's come. This deal is great but I'll still have to wait unfortunately
