Specifically, you have to be on TMO network to make it work, no way to do it when you are overseas already...

Yes, that was a change made earlier this year. You pay off early and the credits stop.
it is confusing some people show it as $0 upfront and $800 over 24 and some have some small amount, and the rest over 24 months. For me on the documents it says
Smartphone Trade ID240577 due to an eligible purchase . Monthly credits in the amount of 33.34 will be applied over 24 months for Pixel 9 - Obsidian

I thought Costco doesn't do this promotion
Seems like it's hit or miss purchasing from Costco. I really think it depends on what CSR is working at the T-Mobile kiosk.
