Not sure it's worth the hassel to save $30, after the $70 restock fee on the buyers remorse return.
"You may also be required to pay a restocking fee based on the Full Retail Price ("FRP") of the Device as follows: $70 for devices...We will refund the purchase price, excluding rebates, special discounts, and restocking fees."
Two years ago the discount for the buds were through a prepaid gift card. It was an instant discount this time.

You need to understand how devices are rated. S9 was a flagship phone when released but iPhone XR was midrange so there trade in values will differ no matter when you purchase them. iPhone x or xs will be rated higher for trade in purposes
