For those curious, the only solid info on the steel is "stainless steel." One review claims 8Cr13, but nowhere else claims that and Kershaw is usually pretty proud of listing their steel types.

That said, it seems be a popular knife for the price, although some reviewers say it's a bit small. Not terribly surprising with a 2.75 blade.

I have this knife. As someone who wants a small knife with both a straight and serrated portion, it does the job well. My only wish is if the housing was slimmer as I have the knife on my keys.

For a few dollars more just got the kershaw misdirect for 46% off BF deal on amazon. I also own the Kershaw blur which is obv in another league and I love that knife. Just think they are a good brand overall

Lots of their entry level products have gone 4Cr route. Would be very surprised if 8Cr at this price. Not likely

I will only EDC a blade with a serrated portion. Some things cut great with a nice sharp blade, which most all have. But if you want to cut a tough rope it almost always seems to cuts faster with the serrated part. You lose a little cutting edge for the advantage of really being able to tear through something tough with the serrations. Also, it may cut well without having to "attack" your nicer edge for finer work.

I have missed a serrated edge on many knives, but I have yet to need a full blade without serrations. So for EDC, I almost always choose to carry something with a good portion 30% serrated.

It'll cut through seat belts faster then a straight edge.
