Be wise. Always check the price of replacement toner slash ink cartridges before purchasing a printer. Over the life of the printer your toner is going to cost you more, than the printer itself.

The comparable but monochrome Canon MF455dw was frontpage last month for $220. Cheapest price I can find on a comparable color laser printer.

Be wise. Always check the price of replacement toner slash ink cartridges before purchasing a printer. Over the life of the printer your toner is going to cost you more, than the printer itself.

edit: This printer seems reasonable for replacement toner.

There was extensive discussion on the cost of replacement ink for this exact model the previous time this was posted in slick deals a year ago. Many people were able to get replacement toners that lasted them years for 1/3 or less than the cost of the printer. Are you making a blanket statement about all printers and thumbing down any printer post?

Obligatory statement about any printer. Not specifically this model. Seems like a halfway decent deal depending on your local area for toner availability.

Quality is not the same as OEM plus you can't see the ink levels so the print quality gets worse when the ink runs out.

Do you buy 3rd party ink? If so Canon tries to make that as difficult as possible.

Ok printer but the firmware will drive you insane. I've had Brother, Ricoh, Canon and HP and I'm only getting another Brother now. All the others suck.
