Nope. Just signed up. Tested on Furiosa Mad Max. Saw 8 ads across the film timeline. Each was at least 30 seconds long.

Worked for me! Just keep in mind this is not a standalone subscription, it is managed and accessed through the Roku Channel.

I am seeing the deal directly on max.com now.

Offer valid from November 25, 2024 to December 2, 2024. This offer is for (i) new and returning Max customers via max.com and through the following participating subscription providers: Apple, Google Play, Roku, Samsung and Xumo, and (ii) new Max customers via Amazon Fire.

Eligible customers who take advantage of this promotional offer will get access to the Max With Ads monthly plan at a discounted rate of $2.99 per month (plus applicable taxes) for the first 6 months. Offer valid in the U.S. only. During the discount period, subscription will automatically renew at the discounted price. After the discount period, subscription will automatically renew each month at the then-current subscription price (now, $9.99/mo. plus applicable taxes), on a recurring basis, unless you cancel before the renewal. To cancel, go to Setting>Subscription in your Max account or contact your provider if you subscribe through a third-party subscription provider (as applicable). Subscription fees are nonrefundable. If you switch plans during your discount period, you will lose the benefit of this offer. Offer may be redeemed only once per account, is subject to change without notice and cannot be combined with any other discount or promotional offer.

B/R Sports Add-On included for a limited time with Max subscription. Subject to change at any time during your promotional period.

I really can't think of a reason to get HBO. Yes, it's still HBO to me. The Max thing is never happening.

Paramount Plus beats HBO and Netflix. There, I said it. It's WAY better. Apple is ALMOST there but their shows are tailored to stuffy, uptight sorts, or wannabe stuffy types. Amazon has its moments but their UI is TERRIBLE and they do interfere with their shows a lot.
I can't seem to find much to watch on Max. Mostly just old good shows and new shows that I've never heard of.

I'm just sharing that I've found that if you're already a subscriber, attempting to cancel your subscription will prompt the same offer to get you to stay.

Get this deal directly from max.com
On Roku you have to watch it through Roku app.

You can't block ads for any streaming service with any browser extension. There are basically zero workarounds also.
You couldn't be more wrong...

Looking at what they have, Max is disappointing.

I'll probably watch House of dragon, penguin, dune show, Beetlejuice 2 when it's added.

There are plenty of articles on this. You can cross-reference the recs with something like metacritic.

Apple is weird on some of their choices, but they do put out pretty good big-budget sci-fi on a regular basis, compared to Netflix (a graveyard of misses), Prime (most of their series are unpopular), and Disney (even starwars fans hate half of them).

HBO has always been a mix of high-brow and swings at the masses by doing the storytelling a bit better. The Wire and True Blood. Sopranos and Game of Thrones. White Lotus and The Last of Us.

Netflix was lying when they said they wanted to be HBO. Their final form is they want to be basic cable with some more nudity and swearing...And I think they may have pulled it off.

If I'm a current member, do I need to cancel first and then try this promotion? Because when I click the button while signed in, it says "plan change unavailable"
I was going to cancel and sign up again but during the cancellation process it offered me the deal directly.

edit: I should have read the whole thread before commenting since 3 or 4 people already posted the same thing. sorry

Anyone know if this stacks on top of currently running yearly plans?

Would this let you sign up for it while you have a yearly plan still active, and only activate after the end of the current subscription?

Might be wishful thinking

I had to get customer service to force terminate my current subscription before I could resubscribe under the promo. Worked like a charm!
