Nope. Just signed up. Tested on Furiosa Mad Max. Saw 8 ads across the film timeline. Each was at least 30 seconds long.

Worked for me! Just keep in mind this is not a standalone subscription, it is managed and accessed through the Roku Channel.

Sometimes it comes down to personal taste. I sometimes struggle to find stuff of interest on the legacy TV streamers because I hate broadcast TV. Other people can't get enough of their Grey's Anatomy or Friends reruns. Seems like the majority of the streaming audience watches the daylights out of Netflix. Know thyself.

While Max is "TJ Maxx" level HBO, HBO still manages to do HBO level of programming. Worth $3/mo to me. Ad load is about 4-5 minutes per hour, on the lower end of the ad supported streaming services. Peacock has little to offer, so isn't worth $2 / month or $20/annual to me.

Good news here is that it's not an annual commitment, so just pay the $3, and move on if not for you.
4-5 minutes of ads per hour? Sheesh. I don't think peacock is that bad. Maybe a minute of ads total

You are not locked to anything.
You pay monthly and can cancel anytime.

Statistically, Peacock is about the same.

Thanks, I cancelled my current subscription and Max offered me this promotion to stay. So it was an easy transaction. I didn't have to go thru Roku.

Just tried to cancel an HboMax no ad sub and was offered an ad plan for $3 for 6 months. Reluctantly took the offer. The problem with HboMax on its app is the volume leveling on content vs ads. On tentpole movies like Dune and Godzilla, my receiver is set to -15db which is very loud. Loud enough that neighbors will call the police if the windows are not closed. When ads kick in with Hbo, that -15db is ear drum busting. It's a health hazard for the elderly because of the shock/ thump value. Having a capable sub does not help with the shock factor when the ads start.

I'll have to think more about that ad supported Hbo. I only paid for a 1 month ad free for some movies which I already binged on.

I can't seem to find much to watch on Max. Mostly just old good shows and new shows that I've never heard of.
Maybe try watching the new shows?

Is this just for Max or for the Disney/Hulu/Max bundle?

That stinks. I just can't subscribe or pay for anything with ads. Wish they would have these types of deals on non ad subscriptions.

Also - if you do subscribe to this ad version is it 4k or do you pay extra for that too?

I already have Max at $9.99. I selected cancel, and they gave me the option to sign up for the $3 deal.

if you have verizon internet or cell service, you can get netflix and max with ads for $10/mo
Does Verizon add sales tax on top? Netflix charges sales tax where I am even though Hulu and Peacock does not.
