You need to keep Cricket service for 6 consecutive months, then Cricket will unlock it

For anyone who wants it actually unlocked at some point, it will cost you $100 + $120 + $120, which includes 6 months of cricket service. Two months of unlimited and four months of the $30 5gb plan.

Not bad at all if you need a decent new phone + plan. Cricket is also rock-solid as far as quality of service is concerned.

If you are on Cricket already, you can get it cheaper, because they only require 1 month when adding a new line.
I don't know about the activation, but you can just insert your current sim card and it will work.
You can still unlock the phone, just insert your current sim and keep service for 6 months, after that, you can contact Cricket and they will give you the unlock code, I have done it a few times.

You seem to be knowledgeable with Cricket wireless. I got my S24FE and activated the 2 month plan. if I don't continue after the 2 months, will the phone still unlock after 6 months or do I need continuous service? heard conflicting reports so wanted to check. thanks!
You need 6 continuous months of Cricket service with the same number in order to qualify for unlock, if you stop service after the 2 months phone will not unlock, also switching sim cards will reset the counter and you will have to start the 6 months counter over again.

Thank you, appreciate the response. Someone in this same thread earlier posted that while this is the policy, that's not how it works and the phones get unlocked even with no active service for 6 months. hence wanted to check if anyone has first hand experience.

It's required to have at least six months of paid service with the locked device, not necessarily 6 continuous months. The counter won't be reset if swapping SIM card. Please read their unlock policy carefully.

Wife wants a new phone for Christmas. We currently have the 4 line/$100 plan. If I add this temporarily as a 5th phone at $140, is there any problem leaving the phone packaging sealed and then waiting until Christmas to put her current sim in the phone? We would cancel the extra line at the start next billing cycle and never actually use the new SIM provided by Cricket with the phone..

I'm asking since I'm a little confused by some earlier comments about the phone auto-activating after 7 days. Just want to make sure we don't run into any issues with her current sim when she tries to use the new phone.

Can I order this, pay for 6 months of cricket service, but use my current T-Mobile sim card on the FE?
Also, if not, does the phone need to be turned on for all 6 months with active cricket connection, or can it just be a paperweight for 6 months?

Why is everyone talking about cancelling the line? Since this is prepaid, like other carriers, if I activate the 1 month or 2 month plan and turn off auto renew, will the line not cancel itself after the plan expires? seems lot of folks are explicitly cancelling lines so wondering

No problem. Once the phone is delivered, you have up to 30 days to activate the line.

You have to keep 6 -month active service before being unlocked, therefore the 6-month prepay won't help.

Once the cricket SIM is inserted into the new phone, the counter starts as long as the SIM is not put into another phone. You don't have to keep the phone on all the time.

Because many people here are cricket existing customers. They just want the new phone not the new line. The new lines are added into their existing account, they don't want to pay more monthly unless the new lines are canceled.

Yes you can leave the packaging sealed. You can activate the line on the cricket app and the SIM card they send never has to be put in the phone. I canceled the line the next day after I activated it and opened the phone a day after that and put in another person's SIM card on my account

Got this phone played around with it for a week. Extremely fast very impressed. I have one issue that is keeping me from keeping this. Whenever I'm working and have in my pocket it constantly opens up calls somebody or opens apps. I have turned on the pocket dial protection, turned off double tap to wake, and turned off lift to wake and it still does it.

That's annoying. I wonder if Samsung support could help? Have you tried rebooting it?
