look up lofta, just did it last year. Paid about $150 oop for the home test. Pretty smooth process, you do a quick preinterview with a PA/MD, they send out a kit. you send it back and depending on the results you schedule a quick call with a sales person and they send you the rx. You can then take it anywhere or shop at lofta for a cpap. They will also PM other prices if you find anything cheaper. The whole process probably took about 2 weeks for me, from getting the first consultation to having my cpap in hand.
Do you snore like a freight train do you awake in the middle of the night gasping for air then you might need it. Schedule yourself a sleep study quickly, if left unchecked can lead to heart issues, reduced life expectancy
If you think you snore and aren't getting a good nights sleep get a cheap digital recorder and record yourself sleeping. I did and it was scary. Scheduled a sleep study next day and have been using a cpap ever since.

I know I snore, but then I went to th doc. Paid 599 bucks out of pocket for me to fail the take home test just so they have me come in for an in person study. I wish I could just get it and roll with it.

For those that want one of these on the cheap and without a prescription, FB marketplace is full of them. Just make sure it's working and check hours. I'm a Resmed bipap user and have bought 3 extras for backup/keep-in-car for cheap and all were in perfect condition with low hours.

This is for resmed 10 and 11 and some others.
Used the RESMED 10 for 5 years.
Used the RESMED 11 for last 12 months.
Similar results if the pressure range/tube temp/humidity are set specifically to your needs and you replace the hose/tank/headset/nose pillow as recommended. (shoutout to my sleep doc/sleep study lab at Northwestern/Central Dupage Hospital)
Note: the 11 is much easier to pack/shlep through the airport.
PM Inquiries to this CPAP evangelist will be promptly answered.
