You are right it is pretty old, but it is a great cooler. No it isn't the best but for 10 bucks it is more than adequate for most users.

I have this exact cooler on my gaming rig. No OC or anything and it just works away and has been for at least 5 years now.

You are right it is pretty old, but it is a great cooler. No it isn't the best but for 10 bucks it is more than adequate for most users.

Oh I agree. Like I said it's proven and it's not like CPUs are way hotter (with the exception of Intel house fire chips) than they were in the day of the amd 965 black or i5-2500k.

It's insane that the 212 is still around and still works very well for most applications. I've installed at least 10 of these over the last 15 years or so. Great cooler but may be too tall for some cases so check before you buy. On some motherboards it can also block the RAM slots if you have tall sticks

I have the older version of this on a Ryzen 5 3600. People are saying this cooler isn't enough for new CPU anymore like 5700 x3d, is that true?

This coolers build cost has been amortized over 15 years so the engineering and tooling has more than been paid for.

I have one, it cools my 5700x3D just fine. Fan never even gets loud either but my case is pretty well ventilated.

It should be enough, 5700x3d is prevented overclocking, and my AMD wraith prism cooler has only 2 heat pipes, not 4 pipes reveal in the 212 cooler. Wraith prism is holding my 8 core temps at 42 degrees C, in silent mode.
