amex doesn't automatically check for gc, regardless; so they're not "letting it thru." it may not work on bby egc not because it's a gc but because it's not being sold by bby

i've never seen an amex offer automatically denied because the purchase was a gc. the language in the t&c doesn't amount to much.

Wow. I was not implying anything. Was just asking if I was making sense with that plan because I am planing to upgrade a couple of first gen Apple TV 4Ks.

I have Best Buy gift cards but they wouldn't let me use it towards this purchase. What a bummer!! Why don't they allow us using gift cards any way we want? Stupid

Of course this will work; it's normal and it's allowed and it's expected (it's not double-dipping which is sometimes frowned up or seen as a loophole; this is not one of those situations). Load your Apple GCs into your apple account balance and that should take away the gc thought or mentality that often confused people who use them.

Thank you for replying, but that's not the issue or question. American Express doesn't care that it's a gift card.

The question was about whether paying with PayPal will trigger the American Express credit. Many people have posted online that past purchases have not triggered the Amex credit because it shows up as a charge from PayPal and not Best Buy.

Someone else just said it appears to be working, which is the info needed.

Amex may be liberal on the purchase but they are super strict on the terms. Most important is the merchant the transaction is from. Even though you buy on BB site the gift cards usually will be sold by some other vendor that is cause of the issue not qualifying for the offer.

You cannot use a BB GC to buy other retailers GC. It has been like this for years.
