I am fully aware that I am an ecological disaster. I use disposable paper plates daily, disposable plastic straws, disposable plastic cutlery... fully admit my flaws. I LOVE these disposable phones.

I use one of these tracfones per year, transfer my number to another tracfone (sounds hard, but it is super simple through the tracfone website), then have a brand new phone with a renewed plan. No regrets, it is wonderful. If you can manage less than 1.5gb of data a year and don't have too many friends like myself, these disposable phones are AMAZING.

If you're buying to use them yourself. Otherwise, harvest the plans, use as referrals for TF points and wait for 60 day unlock. Sell on CL for $50 each. Profit.

referrals? Do you need a second person, or would you create a second account and use that? But I guess a second account would be problematic since there would be no way to get the 2500 points to your primary account.....maybe good for a spare phone on the second account? Or am I missing an angle here?

if i buy this... according to the comments i can combine the min and data into one phone... so now i have one phone with 3000 min / 3000 text / 3000 data, but will the expiration be 1 year or 2 years?

Activate the first account and join rewards (preferably using someone's exsiting code to get the 5000 points + 1000 for joining), then activate the second phone and use the first as a referral. The first line will get another 5000 and the new one 5000 + 1000. Make sure when you enter the referral on the second phone, that you do it from the phone and its 4G connection or from another IP. There are fraud prevention systems that are funny and will sometimes remove the points if it thinks you are referring yourself.

Activate phone #1, create a Tracfone account for it online, then make sure you can place a call. While logged in with that new account, click activate, keep number, pick the number of the line you just activated and go through the process again. The times and buckets will stack.

It's usually on the QVC website home page.

If you read through all the details about the phone, it says "Phone must be activated within one year of purchase".
I haven't bought Tracfones from HSN for close to a year, but they didn't use to have this condition. People should take note of this. Used to be you could wait quite a while to activate the phone.

I also had a $15 coupon in my HSN account I wasn't aware of (expires 11/30 so just barely had time to use it), that I was able to apply to this purchase. Brought the price down nicely.

Found this thread when I looked for threads about tracfones so I could warn others about the 1 year activation period.

I posted a similar deal earlier this year - several people replied bitching about who could possibly want to use this phone and what good was 1500 minutes (about which I thought "is your social life so poor that all you do is talk on your phone?" and "do you not also have a google voice phone"? and "can you not envisage a situation where a person might use the minutes from 2 phones per year". etc. ). OP is lucky those people are too busy with other black friday deals.

People also say these aren't good phones, but they work fine for what I do. Occasional calls. Mainly texts. Extremely rarely internet. I don't have my personal life on a phone. I don't trust phone security (including apps) on any phone - phone security overall is very poor. Virtually all of my internet activity takes place on a computer (for some things, I don't even use wi-fi; I'll use ethernet).

The good old days of free phone double phone cards changing phones constantly to try EVERYTHING candy bars flips sliders etc. tracfone/net10 made it so easy … I thought they were going away soon
