This (tax year 2023) year's quality of help with xpert assist wasn't as good as the previous year's quality of help. It is becoming marginally acceptable, imho.
Having said that, they are decent tax software if you don't have too many fancy stuff. There are better options but if you are hooked up here then you tend to go with them.

this is an outright lie -
"Activate your discount today and come back to finish filing by April 15, 2025.
Claim your limited-time savings by December 2! Payment isn't due until you file."
What will actually happen is that prices will fluctuate up and down and you will be paying the CURRENT price - whatever that happens to be - at the time that you PAY for your taxes.
When they say you are locking in a discount of 50%....that's kind of a scheme - because they raise the BASE PRICE ALL TAX SEASON and then give you "50%" off of that - but it's going to be WAY. more than you think.
You can allegedly get around that by paying NOW for the filing even before you are ready to do your taxes - but they don't make that clear anywhere. They also bury in the fine print that they reserve the right to raise their prices whenever they want. And last year, when they scammed me and I contacted customer service to complain, some poor seasonal employee was basically on the verge of tears, admitting to me that the company scams people and she is not authorizsed to refund anyone or do anything about it.
Eventually I had to do a chargeback with Amex and I got like $85 back.
TaxAct used to have a guarantee and they used to be a good company but it has gone to -----. Greedy vile one of the worst businesses out there.
Been using Taxact for 15 years...all of which I've had some type of discount. There was one year where the locked-in discount fell off, but I just called them and they honored it. As mentioned already, just take a screenshot for proof.
Remember also to stack with Amex or other CC discount offer when filing.
Same here. Wish they would do a discount for their desktop software.
