Amazon has Days of Wonder HEAT: Pedal to The Metal Board Game for $49.99. Shipping is free.
Thanks to Deal Hunter niki4h for finding this deal.
About this Game:
Based on simple and intuitive hand management, Heat: Pedal to the Metal puts players in the driver's seat of intense car races, jockeying for position to cross the finish line first, while managing their car's speed if they don't want to overheat. Selecting the right upgrades for their car will help them hug the curves and keep their engine cool enough to maintain top speeds. Ultimately, their driving skills will be the key to victory! Drivers can compete in a single race or use the "Championship System" to play a whole season in one game night, customizing their car before each race to claim the top spot of the podium. They have to be careful as the weather, road conditions, and events will change every race to spice up their championship. Players can also enjoy a solo mode with the Legends Module or add automated drivers as additional opponents in multiplayer games.
Our research indicates that this is $10 lower (16.7% savings) than the next best available price from a reputable merchant with prices starting from $59.99 at the time of this post.

Great deal for a fantastic game. I've never seen price this low new.
A medium -light push your luck card management game with a great racing theme. All my games have come down to the wire on the last turn often being decided by luck of the draw, but only the players who were making the best tactical decisions are in contention for the win.

Most of the reviews I saw were a definite NO. It takes quite a bit to dissuade me from getting expansions for a well-liked game, and I decided to pass on the expansion.
I have both games. There aren't any player powers in Heat that make the players different, though there is an included expansion that allows for adding an extra card in your starting deck that makes one player different from another. Each has choices to make when going around corners, whereas Formula D has the rolling that makes it somewhat unpredictable, in Heat, the drawing of the cards is what makes it unpredictable. Those are some of the major differences. Both are enjoyable to my family and me.
You can play both at BoardGameArena.com and decide for yourself. Heat is way more expansive and takes some playthroughs to internalize how the management of the deck (heat cards) and corner speeds function.
This is a great board game. I highly recommend it, it has great reviews on BGG as well. Also, it plays well with 6 players, so if you are looking for a good game that can handle more than 4 players, this is a good one and is a good one to play with the family. Not for a group of people who prefer heavier Euros.
