I feel the 8gb limit regularly. Lots of hanging especially on wake and opening/closing safari and certain websites. YMMV
My brother wanted to "upgrade" this for her. She's surviving 11yrs on 256Gb and 8GB. 😂
Battery is her only issue since it's not long for this world. But it still works.

To make matters worse, 8GB RAM could easily mean swap space is needed, the performance hit may not be felt by the user but the TBW is affected since Swap is the system writing stuff onto SSD. so for anyone and everyone dealing with these Macs, please check the TBW of your SSD and take appropriate actions when it's a high number. there's no clearly written down TBW for apple's SSD but the standard is 600TBW for a 1TB drive. hence 256GB is around 150TBW.

Or possible you're using it wrong and clicking the red X, thinking you closed a program like a pc when it's still open. Unsure, but 8gb is plenty for most users. The mini runs a plex server while driving the two monitors, compiling movies, and 12tb external storage, word, excel, list goes on. Never had issues with the MacBook Air either, maybe take yours into the genieus bar.
