People should not abuse that return policy. If it breaks in 5yrs just buy another one. Don't be a cheapskate. Buy a new one.
I'm basically copy-pasting my response (for information) from the now dead $500 BB deal post, but despite Costco's return policy, I went for BB's for the low-reach and lit crevice tools, much like another poster had said they'd wished they'd done... These do come with a 2yr warranty at least, although would be nice if it were 5 for such a pricy product, even @ this price.

Dysons seem to have great longevity if you don't abuse them, though. I have a V7 Fluffy that's almost 5 years old now, it's been great since about half my floors are hard flooring, but I've wanted a carpet motor head because I do still have some carpet.. some observations side-by-side:

V7 Fluffy's head is still great at hard floors, but the new V15 detect head is on a whole other level - it's shorter/lighter/more compact so it can fit into tighter spaces, and it's hard to overstate how useful the laser is in spotting debris on hard floor. It's also just a satisfying effect as you go along - like a damp sponge cleaning a chalkboard. Makes you want to clean more, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

The new laser detect 'fluffy' head works fully & perfectly fine with the older V7

Carpet: V7 fluffy without a motorhead was obviously not super useful on carpets, loose surface debris, sure.. deep clean, absolutely not. V15 is on a whole other plane of existence, pretty sure the carpet motor head on it is more effective than my old plug-in Dyson Ball stand-up vac.

The new carpet motor head from the V15 does not work with the older V7.

Small motor brush: Old V7 one worked fine, new corkscrew head seems more aggressive and it's apparently great at rejecting hair/string/fur/etc. tangles
Crevice tool: This V15 @ BB comes with the lighted tool. Light doesn't work when used with the V7.
'Fancy tech' - V15 wins hands down.. with its screen and debris sensor, you get more information (incl a 'countdown timer' for the battery) and the vac itself can adjust power based on the debris it's actively picking up

I have cleaned a bit more with it since I posted in that thread, and it's been very effective. The carpet motor head & suction really does seem even more effective than my old wired Dyson Ball. Works well for stairs with a 'single pass' too.

As for 'bonuses' buying from Dyson directly? They've sometimes bundled additional tools in the past, but don't appear to be doing so right now.

I went to my local Costco yesterday and this Dyson was still showing $699 on the shelf tag. Are others able to get the $499 price at the warehouse right now?

Just wondering, how did you get it for $300?
They didn't. Just bored and seeking attention.

Happened to see an open box V15 with the new ones marked down. Definitely got lucky!

I came here to say that the detect light here is a total gamechanger. It is ridiculous how much more dust, dirt, etc you can see.

I bought from Costco today but did so after returning the v11 animal we got from Costco like 5 years ago. It had started to reboot mid vacuum & part of the bin was broken. Why am I saying this? Cause Costco gave me the full return price on the v11 animal I returned & I got the v15 for approximately $30. Don't sleep on the Costco return policy when purchasing. I had kept the box & repackaged everything. Return was easy, they gave me it as a gift card & then bought the new one immediately.

It is a nice addition, but it's also kind of dim when the room's lit up. The Gen5 version apparently has a much brighter laser.

Costco is the only place to buy Dyson because it'll break in a few years! Absolutely not worth it's price
When you say break I'm curious what breaks? I'd say the battery needs to be replaced around year 2, but other than that I've had a V7 for around 5 years and its still going very strong. Only have had to replace the battery. I haven't even replaced the filter!

I have had the same experience with the 5 dyson sticks I have owned over the years. Only ever upgraded because of newer/better features (longer battery life, more power, laser lights, etc). Battery life does get less after 3-4 years but on the newer ones the battery is detachable so is easy to replace.

No one provided proof in that post either, all I see is $50 off of $499, but no proof whatsoever. There are at least 7-8 people who asked where they see that $50 off in that post too without a single answer lol

Have a V7 and worked all these years and still on OEM battery/accessories with daily use. I heard the newer models are louder or higher decibel. Is that true?

Depends on what speeds you're comparing. On their lowest speeds, they sound remarkably similar to one another. V7's high setting is louder than the V15's medium, then the V15's 'boost' setting is the loudest, but also way more powerful, and still much quieter than your average plug-in vac.
