Warning you now, run from Arlo. They were great a long time ago but sadly turned into garbage: failed hardware, awful software, subscription required PER camera, etc. They have changed the subscription model now, but still be warned.

Read the 1 star reviews - rough. It isnt from people complaining, it is from people who come across the real issues are the Arlo garbage.

I spent $2k on their garbage, and I had issue after issue with them. They would open a ticket, then "resolve" it days later with zero contact or resolution.

Yes. I have wired one and just use it as an alerting device or viewing live video.

Would like to know too. I have the hub from my arlo 2. That one doesn't need subscription. But if this one push me to subscription, will still with other camera without subs.

Can I use this without subscription? And maybe a bit OT, but for folks that use frigate as NVR, which I only just learnt about - how does this compare to the eufys and wyzes for ease of use with frigate?

Arlo is trash, don't waste your money. I'm pretty positive that you won't be able to use this with frigate. I'll never forget that I had a Arlo camera directly facing my parents car and it got broken into and recorded nothing. No logs or anything to tell if they used a wifi blocker. Find something else.

Thanks for the warnings! I did come across https://github.com/kaffetorsk/arlo-streamer that seems to allow it to work with frigate w/o subs plan. But considering you and @sassan's comment, I'll look for something else.

The fact that you even have to do this should tell you how shit of a product it is.

Every product has flaws. Arlo has MANY flaws.

I had Eufy and they were excellent, but couldnt do the live recording. I switched to Lorex and have been content since.

Every brand has its issues. Lorex took me a LOT of tweaking to get it right, but now it works VERY well.

I can tell you this: Lorex is easily 100000x better than modern day Arlo.
