thx for the tip about being able to upload room curves only when in edit filter mode, that makes sense... all i gotta do now is figure out why i can't edit the filters :-/
Folks in the RZ50 AVS thread say the firmware doesn't take unless you do a factory reset of the AVR! You have nothing to lose!

thx for the feedback... did that and then ran into what sounds like loud ground loop buzz in the sub speaker... confirmed that it's in the ac line by powering the sub with a lithium ion battery and nothing else connected to it, got no more buzz, even after adding the signal from the receiver the buzz was gone.
i could continue with the dirac measurements using the battery powered sub, but for today i'm gonna troubleshoot the ac issue.

Is multi sub DLBC upgrade worth it over full range DL?
If you understand the Dirac hierarchy, then you know you have to have Dirac Live license before DLBC.
Full bandwidth vs DLBC is easy to answer. If you have more than one SW, DLBC pays for itself. If you have one SW, sometimes you can get by with sub phase controls, EQ, etc and check with REW!
Answer also depends on if you're coming from a PAC AVR vs other brands. Many Onkyos, Pioneers, and Integras have parallel SW outs which will confuse DLBC!

I have 3 subs connected to a HTP1 with full range DL and aligned with REW, which is just okay at best. I did buy the BC upgrade, cautious optimistic, we'll see. I hope the 30 day refund policy is still valid.

The 30 day refund is valid if the license hasn't been used. However, you can get a refund if you know who to talk to in AVS, ASR, or similar forums!
From the official EULA:
3. Refunds. To be eligible for a limited refund, you (i) must have acquired a license to the Software from Dirac or from an authorized distributor; and (ii) must not have used the Software; (iii) must provide proof of payment for the Software; within thirty (30) calendar days of your receipt of the Software. ACQUISITIONS OF LICENSES TO SOFTWARE ARE NON-REFUNDABLE FOLLOWING THE EXPIRATION OF THE 30-DAY PERIOD AND IN THE EVENT THAT THE SOFTWARE HAS BEEN USED. SHIPPING CHARGES AND CREDIT CARD FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

Highly suggest watching that AA video, extremely helpful on how to properly use the full suite of Dirac and tricks & tips.
As he points out, BC does all EQing & corrections so you don't need REW any longer.
Imo this is main benefit to Dirac, that algorithm is very good & saves so much time, energy and cost!
Depending on your expectations it may take a bit to adjust. It's a common perception issue especially at these mid levels.
Pretty sure that's why he talks about it in that video.
Dirac says proper placement isn't needed with BC(as much).
I somewhat disagree, it can be a benefit but differences are not significant.
With the odd number, don't be afraid try different locations especially if it's just ok.

I have low expectations 😂, prefer a manual calibration. If it saves time and gets it close with minor subsequent tweaks, I'll be satisfied with that.

In the past, I'm with you there especially for the cost to get Dirac back then!

you guys have a good thanksgiving!

By the way, they unified the multi-sub and single sub license to be the same price. There is no distinction now in 2024!
It uses the AVRs bass management to calculate the subwoofer(s) into it.
Here is what DLBC offers for any subwoofer.
What that is worth varies from person to person.

In general terms, it takes Audyssey results and realigns everything, most find to similar DL/DLBC(directional) results.
Having used it several times now, it is very impressive!
Edit: To get that from Dirac you need to have DLBC.
