Not sure if you're serious or not, but it is kind of an interesting question... I had a discussion a few years ago with a salt producer in Turkey and it seems that the semi-official definition is that sea salt is any salt that's produced by the evaporation of salt water. It's little 's' sea and not big 'S' Sea. In his case, it got even more confusing in that his salt was produced from an 'inland sea' or 'salt lake', so he wasn't even sure what the proper term would be in English.

Anyways... I love Maldon... perfect for sprinkling on cookies before baking... topping chocolate dipped caramels or marshmallows... or seasoning a steak (after cooking).

I think it depends where you live. So many people claim to always receive fresh stuff.
I personally gave up on buying food from Amazon. I always get stale or borderline stale items...... even the bottled soda.

LOL... I can just imaging throwing out a container of Morton table salt... mined from deposits that have been there for tens of thousands of years... but someone decides that it's food and, therefore, must have an expiration date.

Very large flakes but not overly salty is the best way i can describe it.

I use it to top my sousvide steaks.

The issue is that estuary salt has land minerals, not sea minerals.

For those concerned about expiration dates on this, you better avoid pink Himalayan salt. It is estimated to be between 250 million and 600 million years old
