Some electric ones are awesome. $20, can get hot as hell, last 12 hours on a reasonable setting, can also be used power bank. Bought 2 of these last year and I'm sold. https://a.co/d/1oOklDz

The other poster is wrong. You have to carry a lighter or some form of flame to activate these units.
They produce heat via a catalytic reaction, which requires a flame to start. Once it's "lit" there's no flame just fuel breaking down.

I have Raynaud's and was given the same one you linked as a gift and agree with everything you said. The electric one is a life saver and super convenient and easy. I've had it for, I think, 4 years now and it is still going strong.

I've picked up quite a few of these over the years but usually in the $7-8 range. They are extremely finicky and overall rather difficult. I've tried zippo branded lighter fluid and just basic vm naptha, but getting it started is tough (for me at least).
It does take quite a bit of flame to get it started, so I would suggest using a zippo style lighter as you are holding it over flame for at least 15 seconds and usually 30-45.

I completely suggest the electric style rechargeable ones over this for 99% of use cases.

I was about to ask if the zippo one can be put into luggage checked in at airport. Your post helped me find a better solution. Thank you!

Nope, you aren't they actually removed it. No doubt the seller/company is part of this thread.
I couldn't find the 2 pack version either but found the single (non-fast charging) for $20 right now

The catalyst in these is considered consumable, and replacements are either impossible to find or as much as buying an entirely new hand warmer. It's not always obvious that the filament is the issue because they take a while to get warm anyway.

I was tempted to get a new one for the few times a year I use it, but an electronic one may be better solution.

Weatherproof matches, never a bic. They leak, explode, etc in extreme conditions.

I like the price but do you think the other truck drivers are going to judge me for holding a little penguins? 😂

Good for camping, not great for day to day use like dog walks or anything less than a few hours. Use the power bank like warmers for those as you can't stop this until it runs out of fuel. Very good for long sessions like camping or cold weather hiking though.

No, but you need butane fluid like in the picture. I bought one a couple years for the same exact price. Not used alot

There's rechargeable handwarmers now that are more convenient, but not nearly as good . If I was going camping outdoors or something, I'd take the zippo butane, but otherwise you could try alternatives to fuel source.
This doesn't use Butane - pointing this out so that someone doesn't run out and buy the wrong fuel.

Butane is sold pressurized.

This unit uses a liquid lighter fluid - notice the flip-top spout on top in the pic- which is the same thing traditional Zippo lighters use.

Are the electric ones safe on skin, such as you just holding it in your jacket pocket? We go to outside events and I don't wear gloves, but would like to use something like this in my jacket pockets where is could hold them.

Reviews seem mixed. Some say it's okay while others say no skin contact, only with gloves.
