If you take it apart, there is a thick silicone o-ring that has to be broken in (same as the Facom).

Kids on youtube use a cordless drill with a hex adapter.

That is not accurate. You can take any craftsman product back to Lowe's or Ace Hardware. The only stipulation is that they must carry that tool in the store and it must be a Craftsman brand.

Lowe's should exchange the broken tools under warranty as long as they carry the item. If it's a older style tool or one not carried in the store you will need to go through Craftsman directly. Usually they will require a picture of the item and send the replacement for free.

Thanks for posting this deal.

I was at Lowes and asked the store manager about warranty claims and he said that for in store warranty service, the purchase has to be from Lowes.

Another options is to contact Craftsman directly.

What I didn't ask is the shipping cost for online warranty claims. Does Craftsman cover both the shipping return and shipping replacements ?

I miss the days when you can just walk-in to any Sears store and get a replacement on the spot.

I don't think that's true, I have exchanged craftsman stuff from sears no problem other than there being an updated on the same kind of tool that would look different or they would exchange it for something comperable , I have had to contact craftsman for something they didn't carry, and they shipped it for free and i didn't have to return my broken

The Ace in my area said they won't warranty craftsman tools unless you have a receipt and bought them from them.
The nearest Lowes says you have to call Craftsman, who then tells you to go to the store (which you already did).
Someone should exchange the broken employees for new ones that actually work.

Yes, from what I've heard, they purposely give you the runaround when you ask for a warranty replacement. Definitely not as easy as Husky or Harbor Freight. But again, at these sale prices, it's cheaper than even Harbor Freight.

The ratchet stinks anyway. Terribly stiff (backdrag) and the thing is not serviceable. As mentioned the warranty ain't great either. You're better off with SATA or Quinn.

Not true in W.Va. Lowes swapped older style (15-20 years here) out with upgrade because the exact one was not in stock. No questions.

Most stores don't carry this 96 tooth V-series ratchet . A select few Lowes have them right now only because they're in the Black Friday ad.

So when they do break, the store will only have the cheap chinesium Craftsman as a replacement. Though the amount of backdrag will be a major improvement.....

Technically Craftsman doesn't call it a stubby. But these V-series ratchets are fairly short handled, probably only an inch longer than most 1/4" drive stubbies.

If look at the 11:10 mark, the Craftsman 3/8" Stubby is basically the same length as this 1/4" 'normal' ratchet in this post.

A 1/4" stubby in set like this is 3 1/2" long. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...JYXWZ&th=1

V-Series is just a product line. They have both short and extended ratchets.

This is a thread for a V-series ratchet. The guy asked if this ratchet was a STUBBY version.
