Seems to be an all time low according to CamelCamelCamel
For someone that's never ridden a scooter, would this be a good first scooter? My city has banned electric scooter rentals, so I can't try them out.
It's a good scooter but I would opt for the G30P rather than the G30LP. The range on these at full speed is only about half of what's advertised so that's around 12 miles for the G30LP and 20 miles for the G30P. Unless you've got a really short commute, you're going to be carrying the cable and a heavy charger brick with you everywhere with the G30LP. The G30P has the charger brick inside the scooter so you only need a lightweight cable to charge it.

It's a great scooter. I have this one as well as the 30GP (Top speed-18.6 mph/40.4 Mile range on sale for $599).
This one 30LP (18.6 mph/ 25 mile range about 15 miles on flat terrain in sports mode). The LP is more portable. They are both excellent scooters. I would recommend this.
You can also get a refurbished one for $250 on this deal:
There are scooters with better specs than this, but Segway builds the most durable scooters. These are the same as the rideshare models in many cities. They can take a beating.
Have to disagree. Bought this scooter this year, and have had nothing but problems with it. Segway "service" was terrible. Solution to fix cost the same as buying it new.
There is a reason why there are so many sales AND major discounts on refurbs they never seem to run out of.
They seem to have an employee or two following threads here that should jump on this comment quickly, but I wouldn't fall for it. Segway scooters aren't good quality, and their customer service is absolute garbage.

Thanks for the review… any electric scooter that you would recommend? I'm looking to get my 12 year old one. Thanks in advance
I got this with the refurb deal posted upthread. I think it's a great scooter, very solid and surefooted, brakes that do the job. I only got it for goofing around and haven't fully tested the range in the couple weeks I've had it. I heard the horror stories but I've been really happy and I wouldn't hesitate to get another.

I hate the implication that anyone promoting a product you personally don't like must be shilling for the company. Makes the forums into a witch hunt for no reason. Yes that happens sometimes for some products, but this is a very popular scooter with a lot of people who genuinely like it. Just because you got a lemon doesn't mean there's no way a real customer would recommend this thing.
But what do I know? I'm probably just an employee 🙃

This would be perfect for your 12year old. I got one for my son last year when he was 12. He is 13 now. I started him on eco mode until he got the hang of it. He quickly moved to the faster sport mode. I am not a Segway employee lol. I have this scooter and the longer range version. They are a blast and he will love it. Don't be discouraged.

I know it's crazy I own three Segway scooters and love them. Me my wife and my 13yr old have fun on them. I have two 30GP and one 30LP (for my wife) I'm no Segway employee and I highly doubt they are on these threads.

I'm sorry you "hate the implication" and you're concerned about a "witch hunt." That's super strange language from a normal consumer.
I didn't get a lemon, I got a product that has lots of terrible reviews that the company is trying to bury, a ton of refurbs, that they are trying to sell on Slickdeals, and a really poorly engineered product that has too many videos trying to figure out how to make it rideable.
Here's the deal: I'm a real customer, and if you want to DM me, I will show you pictures and exchanges with Segway that will show you how bad their service and product are. Let's see if the other commenters will do the same.
