37 tons is a monster splitter, I kinda wonder what that's good for. I have a 16 ton and it has no problem with logs at the upper limit of what I can pickup\handle.

For most people that are doing dry, and mildly branched trunk wood much lower splitting power is fine. If you are out in the field and have that wet monster 200 pound hex branched trunk and are not built like Schwarzenegger that you would rather not cut again, a more powerful machine is in order. I have done that by hand with multiple wedges at a price of time. Getting a quality iron sleeved engine at this horsepower for this price is amazing. My $.02.

Makes sense, thats gotta be a huge hardwood though, need a grapple just to get the log on the splitter or two biggg guys. When I say upper limit of what I can handle with a 16 ton thats about an 80+lb, 24" wide log, from a tree dropped that same day or week.

I just do almond wood. When you get a stump with 4 branches it can be a bearcat to split. Sometimes I would use as many as 5 metal wedges to split it by hand. If it is 100 lbs then I will use upright stance of the splitter. You are a better man than I: 80 lbs being rolled up to the splitter or truck to be loaded is more my speed. What brand is your splitter? What kind of engine is on it? Hope you have many more years of trouble free wood cutting.

It's the boss model with an electric motor running hydraulics. The hardest woods I split are maple and oak, just stuff off my property. I use a tractor grapple to get logs to a sawbuck right next to the splitter. I do like the splitter a lot. Because it's electric I actually run it inside a fully enclosed woodshed. I have a pass through hatch of sorts that flips down to allow logs to be staged right next to it and stacked behind it. Minimal handling, out of the elements.

I like the idea of an enclosed woodshed so you can have a little protection from the elements. It probably gets very cold where you are. That 2.5 hp electric motor on your 16 ton looks very beefy. Nice looking set up.

I don't understand- did someone actually find this deal? If so, what location?
