Do I just plug it into my s24u and attach router and I'll have 1 gig speeds on my phone?

As mentioned before, the port is only USB 2.0 so you don't get full gigabit speeds but it gets up to something like 480 mbps which is a huge improvement over the built-in ethernet port.
