Interesting docking station. USB-C port instead of a short cable for connecting your computer. Internal NVMe slot. Up to 3 monitors (for PC).

However, you need to connect both the included dock power supply with a barrel connector and a USB-PD charger in order to power your laptop and the hub. They could have done this with a single power supply. I suppose this design does allow you to use a 100watt USB-PD charger to supply 100watts to your laptop, with no reduction to power the hub, but at the expense of an additional cable.

The power issue seems to feature v bug.

Bug - You have to using your power supply.

Feature - The dock doesn't have a special custom power supply that can go wonky. If you power supply goes wonky you place it, not the whole dock.

Yeah, the dock's power supply can shit the bed but at least it's a standard external unit.

Fair point.

Now, what if they powered the dock via another USB-PD port? Then you wouldn't need to carry around a dedicated dock power supply, you could just bring a 40watt phone charger and a laptop charger. Or, use a USB-PD charger with at least two ports to power both the dock and your laptop. It would be more convenient, and USB-PD chargers with two ports are very common and inexpensive.

And it's much easier to replace a USB charger than a barrel port 40watt charger, that's not a common wattage, and the barrel sizes differ.

I bought this and decided to return it. The fan inside the unit is loud, to where I noticed it constantly. The fan doesn't cycle and has a relatively high pitch whine to it.

Yeah. That would be even better. In using a reg USB C charger then a failure is far less inconvenient. Their approach makes some sense - tho I don't think it's intentional because if it was, your idea would be what to do.
