They completely redid the app and launched it WAY before it was ready, getting rid of the existing completely functional app at the same time. All hell broke loose because suddenly features that people relied on either didn't work or were missing entirely, and there was no option to go back to the old app.

They've slowly been "fixing" it and restoring lost features, but the app is still a bit of a mess.

That said, once you get these setup (which is not difficult even with the new app), you may not need the app anymore if you're just looking for speakers to stream to from the Spotify app (or whatever).

I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker necessarily and these speakers are a good bargain at this price.

I'm assuming 2 lamps could be used in the rear channels for a 5.1?

For those asking generic questions about Sonos. There is no value in buying Sonos as a bluetooth speaker. If that is all you are after, there are much more cost effective options out there. You buy Sonos for the multi-room audio capabilities. If you aren't chasing that, you are over paying. Is the sound quality good out of most Sonos speakers? Yes it is. Are the Ikea speakers at the same level as the rest of the Sonos line? Yes….as in they are roughly the equivalent of the original Play1 or the OneSL.
Sonos absolutely botched the app this year. It is getting better, but still an absolutely horrible UI. The old app wasn't the greatest UI, but it was more obvious on how things worked than the current generation is.

I've had the table lamp(nightstand) and picture frame(kitchen, with custom cover) for 2 years. Satisfied is an understatement. Works just like any Sonos speaker and looks great!

Can you confirm it's streaming only, no Android music on phone?

Yes, I am using the bookshelves for the same role and have used the frames before.

Yes, unless you have one of the other Sonos products which support Bluetooth or line in.

Is this IKEA Sonos same as Sonos original line or a downgraded IKEA version of the real Sonos?

Can you explain how it works work with another Sophia speaker and these units? Would you have to own both a Symfonisk speaker and a regular Sonos speaker, and have your phone Bluetooth paired to it?

I recomened Sonos if you have 10 years experience with the Geek Squad, or you like to battle the system and tinker with apps every time you use it.

Can you expand what kind of issues you've had with it specifically? Sonos seems to be a great quality speaker, but I do remember some headlines a year or so ago about how they screwed up their app after an update or something along those lines.

I've never ran into a single issue with my two setups in my house. Systems are pretty much idiot proof to setup and use, takes no time at all.

We use the picture frame for our garage gym and it's perfect. Highly recommended for any background listening use but not for any sort of critical listening.
