Just call AppleCare support (1-800-275-2273) and Apple will quickly ship you a new pair and they include a box for you to send the defective/broken/battery-degraded ones to them. It's that simple. I've done it many times with iPhones and AirPods over the years.
Best to do it right before your AppleCare+ plan expires, and claim battery is poor, so that way you get a fresh pair + charging case with brand new batteries right before the 2-year AppleCare+ plan expires.
The batteries in these things are tiny, and they're the first (and most likely) things to go to shit after a couple years of moderate-heavy use. With AppleCare+, you're basically guaranteed these are gonna last you 4-5 years between the original buds and the last-second AppleCare+ replacements. It's for this reason that I highly recommend getting AppleCare+ for AirPods specifically. Other Apple products aren't as necessary.
You're welcome.

I haven't had any issues with Allstate claims on headphones and Xbox controllers. They either fix or refund the price on the plan.

If you buy AppleCare separately based on Costco's pricing = $23
https://www.costco.com/applecare%...57
AirPods Pro 2 at Costco = $179.99
With exec membership (2% Costco CB)
$179.99 - .02*$179.99 - $23 = $153.39
Regular membership
$179.99 - $23 = $156.99
The best price out there right now is Microcenter, but it is very YMMV and requires PM and $25 off $100 new subscriber coupon. Assume you PM the $154 with Amazon and you can stack it with the $25 coupon. Again, this is at the discretion of the manager for each location. I only saw one poster that successfully got it at this price.
$154 - $25 = $129
Like others have mentioned, the great thing about Costco is their return policy which is "unlimited" and generally they honor the returns. AppleCare isn't really necessary but you're buying it because for that reason. Otherwise a pretty good price for buying it at Costco. If you're talking about price strictly and nothing else matters, then Microcenter (YMMV), then Amazon/Target/Walmart.
