Isn't this two generations old now? Why are they still 80% of normal price?

I'd rather pay $153 from another retailer at this point, thought AppleCare+ can be nice. I accidentally put my lightning APP2 through the wash by leaving them in a pocket and got them replaced for $29 a few months before the warranty ended. Though, the APP2 have been out long enough now, that if something happens down the road I'll just upgrade to the newer model.

You "accidentally" put them in the washer? 😃

Walmart at $154 + $29 for 4 years protection seems to be the best deal. Some cashback and maybe, credit card points is just bonus.

Exactly, a two year warranty wouldn't do shit if it breaks 2 years 1 day in, like yours.
I've gone through 2 pairs of airpods both in about a year's time. I wish I had gotten AppleCare on either pair. I'm not particularly abusive with my devices, so I can't imagine these lasting beyond the warranty window for most daily users.

Fwiw Amazon has discounted Apple Care for apple products. It seems to vary, only $2 less for air pods. More for watches. But makes the cost roughly the same if you don't have a Costco membership.

Costco advantage is if the price drops in 30d, you just fill out a form on their site and get refunded. Amazon officially doesn't price match, but it's hit or miss if you chat.

I bought these from Costco 2 years back and started having issue recently with mic. Costco took them back and refunded me the money. Buying from Costco again at this price for the return policy even though I can buy the same from Target for $124

Surprised this doesn't fall under their 90 day for electronics vs lifetime exception. Otherwise why even bundle applecare.

I decided to not get the warranty. I ended up getting these from Target for ~$130. It just doesn't make sense to me to pay $30 to insure a $130 purchase. 4 years from now I'm not going to want Airpods Pro 2 anyway. I guess if you know you are rough on things like these, maybe it makes sense?

You're *spending* $25 ($180 on Costco- $155 on Amazon/Best Buy) for a warranty you probably won't need or actually use. Apple is supposedly so dependable, I'm not sure 2 year warranty is even worth considering on a brand new item. You'll know if it is defective within the first month. Consumerism *wants you to think* you're saving when you're actually spending it...

Alternatively there are refurbished units with 1 year warranty but you only save $5 right now, so it's not worth it
I bought brand new air pod pro (1st gen) from Apple and it failed within 1 year warranty time. Apple addressed this issue by replacing the MagSafe charger. So you never know, more warranty the better.
