Things could change on BF itself, but seems most the retailers and board partners have decided that $620-$625 is the bottom out price of a 7900 XT. Several got there for a while and then rebounded, and stock of a few kinds seems to be getting low or at least aren't showing up when I search '7900 XT' on Amazon. Instead have to search for specific model name and likely select choose from other seller.
Hopefully that helps AMD pull the trigger announcing the RDNA 4 cards at CES or sooner since clearing out their stock of RDNA 3 cards was one reason they were waiting.
Looks like the regular Hellhound was back at that price too. I snagged one...may return it later, I can't decide on AMD cards. Thank you though
I grabbed one of the regular Hellhounds for a new build after watching prices for a couple of weeks. I didn't want to miss out if stock was drained as I was waiting for a better price that never materialized.

Yeah, I am waffling hard right now with CES around the corner. But could see a spike with the tariffs too. Weird time to buy for sure
Is this the best GPU option in this price range for someone who needs the most VRAM for memory-intensive tasks?
Definitely yes.
Besides, on the consumer side, only the RX 7900 XTX (24GB, ~$800+), RTX 3090 (Ti) (24GB, ~1400+), and RTX 4090 (24GB, ~$1900+) have more VRAM. Pro GPUs with even more VRAM are way, way, way more expensive.

I'm thinking companies will increase their prices 30% knowing most consumers won't the math. This will be on pre-tariffs stock as well in order to maximize profits. If/when tariffs are removed, they will keep pricing elevated for as long as possible (new norm), until the consumer can on longer tolerate the inflated prices and sale volumes drop.
All that said, if you are looking to build or upgrade, my recommendation would be to pull the trigger this week as it maybe potentially be the last time you see a sale for a long time.
