Open-box ROG Ally is about the same price at Best Buy. I wasn't a fan of the Deck's materials quality, size, or (especially) the LCD screen. Now that Bazzite is being developed for the Ally, I'd almost argue it's the better investment at this point in the game.

That said, the Deck does have a massive and active community, so any problem you have will be documented somewhere else. Valve also partneredwith iFixIt and repair parts are readily available.

And then when the 2 comes out, you'll say something else is weak and how you can't wait for the 3. Repeat.

Support is key, otherwise it just turns into a paperweight over time.

OLED or Don't buy. woot

Also, Steam Deck weak ass cpu. Can't wait for Steam Deck 2.
I have had my steam deck since launchish. I have been satisfied with the LCD screen. I have an OLED switch but overall don't care much about the difference.

I have the OLED, and LCD. The steam deck is just amazing no matter the screen. It's all in the genius software. It doesn't hurt that I've been collecting games for years on steam without owning a PC, and this gives me a way to play them 😜

As someone who plays in my backyard the 512gb LCD with the anti-glare glass is great.

No way can you hate on the steam deck. You'd be surprised what performance gains you can get out of the little beast - on top of that it has massive support! Realistically, there are more powerful options on the market but trust that the Steamdeck can handle most titles. I paid like close to $550 for this at launch and it was great!

Sam's club has the Rog Ally for like $379, but after reading about issues like overheating, loud fans, button issues, and the sd card slot breaking, I think I'm going with the Legion Go, mostly due to the big screen. The Ally X looks tempting and like it's fixed a lot of issues, but I just can't see paying $700 (not sure I'd even use it much).
