I am surprised no one mentioned the excellent customer support. I own both this and acasis TB3 enclosures. If you have any questions about your acasis, good luck. Acasis makes the best enclosures until this OWC one came out. OWC stands by its products and also has excellent customer support. That is worth a lot. If you are going to get a high end NVMe like the 4TB or 8TB SN850X, dont cheap out on the enclosure.

I have 2 TB Acasis TBU405Air plugged into my Mac Min M4 and it works perfect. What mac mini you got?
M4 Mini and 4TB NVME; maybe this combination draws more power than your 2TB. A message would show up asking to unplug another device from the TB4 ports when I plug this in.
What I see here is the usual confusion with OWC products where they advertise in a way that one gets easily mislead while they keep their over promise and under deliver game in a legally proof fencing. That's what I concluded after many years of being their customer. Stuff often does not work together with other external items, even some of their own. And customer service to me has been abysmal so that I haven't bought anything from them in years. Best time ever because other brands tend to work!
which is already replacing the previous cases I've been using. Big difference here is the added fan that can be controlled with a little button next to the cable port. I'm running a 4TB Samsung 990 Pro while I'm writing this, and it feels warm, but not the usual hot and super hot. It's active cooling, and it works!
And I just ran a Blackmagic speed test: write speeds always hitting about 2,800 MB/s, and read speeds are always close to 2,900 MB/s.
These cases also go up to 8TB, the next one I will fill with the biggest WD 850X, one after another replacing all my external NVMe cases with those that have built in fans.
One often overlooked practical plus that the Acasis cases have: The cable connection is flush with the case, so even the really chunky Thunderbolt cables fit with no issues whatsoever.
I need one for Samsung 990pro with Mac mini M4. SSD will be used for programming.
This one or the Acasis one?
You'd want the OWC or Acasis TBU401 ($76) or TBU405 ($90). But if it's around $90, the OWC is a better choice because of the faster real-world speed and better heat dissipation.
Ordered this on Amazon yesterday for $131.24. Cancelled it and ordered this deal.
This doesn't get free shipping since the sale puts the item cost below the $99 needed for free shipping.
Total cost with shipping was $110.30. There was a $14.13 cash back offer from "H" that sounds by bunny. Plus 5% back with PayPal through Chase Freedom.
Meh - look elsewhere. I ordered one the day after the mini arrived at my house. Very easy install. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! BEWARE!! They lied to me about a refund for the product price difference after it went on sale. They lost a customer for good.
This is one of the best and fastest external nvme enclosures but it's a little too pricey for me.
Instead, I bought an Acasis TBU405Air 40Gbps enclosure for $51 from their website with a BF discount. It doesn't cool quite as well as the OWC but it's good enough for me.
Be careful, Acasis has several enclosures that are similar in appearance with slightly different features. I bought the cheaper enclosure that only supports Thunderbolt 3/4 and USB 4.0 for my M4 mac mini. This version is not compatible with earlier USB types but there are options that do.
it can get hot, but i've noticed that if you let it sit on the base of an imac/studio-display/mac-mini, it basically acts as a giant heat sink and becomes completely cool to the touch. I don't think the heat is an issue either way, though.
I'm really digging the styling of this OWC, tho...
OWC weighs 253g
acasis is 97g

So costs after cash back offers is about $90.66.
