Receivers tend to support multiple options for those extra speakers including side and height so manufactures will now say how many total speaker channels powered and then how many supported subwoofers and not further complicate it.

You're correct, it will support 5.2. During setup you are able to tell it how many speakers you have as well as their location in the room.

"With only a 7 channel processor and amplifier, it will give you the choice to have all 7 channels around you with side and back surrounds, or for the Atmos layout where you only have a pair of back corner surrounds and the a pair for overhead. The overhead pair can be in a few different positions, or even "Atmos Enabled" speakers that bounce off the ceiling."

Same, bought this two weeks ago to replace an Onkyo TX-NR6050 that got corrupted after a firmware update. Hoping the price adjust process is as easy as they make it out to be given the sale isn't a single day but goes on for several weeks.

Also to others, be sure to check the microphone that comes with the unit. If the microphone doesn't detect any speakers when running Audyssey setup process, it might be a faulty mic. I had to get mine replaced by Denon.

can you explain how to submit for price adjustment?
I have only been Costco member for about 3 weeks and got the membership to purchase Sony TV and this AVR (i paid $399) so i have no idea how to submit for price adjustment for this Denon.
