Anything that requires assembly or has different parts (like fittings, etc), I've given up on those. There's just no way that an inspector is going to know about things like set screws, fasteners, connectors, what's supposed to go where, etc. in order to spot missing parts, even if they gave it their best. The (dissatisfied) customer repacking them for return isn't going to be in the most conscientious or helpful mood either.

On the other hand, I have ordered some things graded as low as Very Good that arrived new in the package. Sometimes it's worth rolling the dice, but you have to choose very carefully when identifying whether the nature of the product itself or their scant description of condition make it worth the risk.

And, as someone else mentioned, always check the new price. I often see what I think is a good deal on Resale only to find that the new item is on sale for the same price.

I always find things to buy. All the comments about how bad it is this time come up every year. But there are thousands of items. 20% is not great but there are some deals.

Found Ozeino wireless headset $30.60 used less 20%=$23.88 +/- new with full warranty and returnable $25.49.

Not a deal.

I did the same thing with Amazon for winter boots through the Try and Buy deal...the return has been a nightmare. I will say 2 things here:

1) Amazon did not jack up prices before the sale. Their algorithms are just broken in a lot of places, especially for items that they've sold out of in "New" condition in the past X months.

2) With that being said, there is so much Chinese copycat junk on the platform that most of the Warehouse items are garbage. Not to mention all the return fraud.

Here's a great example of this:

Samsung 980 PRO 500GB M.2 is $128.87 in VG condition before discount. Warehouse deals has been all messed up on this item because Amazon hasn't sold it New since June (when it was $89). The Warehouse deals price back then was $69. Because Amazon has not had this item New in ages, the Warehouse Deals price has been creeping up since then.

The funny thing with this is the 2TB version is actually on sale cheaper than the used one that's 1/4 the size. That's hilarious.

Few examples:

1- Wrong item shipped, then hassle on return. Saying I didn't return the right item and they re-charge me.
2 - Item lost in transit (based on their own tracking never made it even to my city) but won't refund - when you ask for a refund due to non-receipt, they give you a run-around asking you to upload ID. There's a class action lawsuit coming on this ID nonsense.
3 - Item returned and 3-4 weeks go by with no refund. Ask for a refund and they make up arbitrary reasons to delay up to 30 days.
4 - Worst of all, brain-dead packaging - sending $1000 worth of ram thrown inside a brown envelope with no hard padding. Then sending $6 toothpaste in a large box but $1000 worth of 5x96GB DDR5 ram sticks sent inside single envelope all thrown in like garbage. If it arrived damaged, they'll flag you for fraud for returning multiple qty. of high value goods.

Keep in mind I spend about ~100k/ year in spend on Amazon for my business and maybe return 2 of every 100 items at most. I am extra careful of not getting in trouble with them since my entire home eco-system is ring/Alexa/eero/fire-tv. Warehouse I've just stopped buying entirely, it's everyone's scammed tech returns and amazon makes no effort to validate that it's the right item. Warehouse returns is what I suspect get most people in trouble.

Anytime I have a SD that has Amz / BB / Walmart, I always make an effort to not go with Amazon for above reasons.

Amazon ruined the return culture nationwide over 2 decades, and now are a victim of their own practices. Everyone in the industry followed their lead but the question is now till the others take a similar approach in cracking down on returns en masse.

I 100% agree with you. Challenge is for most tech items, it's a high % chance that it's the previous buyer's scammed return. So when you return as the 2nd buyer (and actually not doing any fraud), they count it in their stats against your return %.

I got the Galaxie S23FE last time for $400 and like new. Looking to get that back in trading up. I'm still using my S20+ 5G mostly, still get a patch or two and it's really not that much slower.

Only buy something u absolutely don't care about, return or warranty. Nothing like get 20% off a used product just for manufacturer to say screw you, you bought used and Amazon just to say oh well it's been 30days.

I foolishly bought a "Like new" replacement ice maker for my fridge.... surprise surprise it was a scam part. It has a 2011 date on it, and looked dirty and used. Scammers didnt even bother to wipe it down.
