**Edit, Wyze seems to have changed the credit to $5 back for $50, $10 for $75 and $15 for $100+ order, boo.

Nice deal, lowest I've seen for the V4 and if you get it from wyze.com you get the wyze credit (up to $15 back for $75+ orders) and 12% CB right now with R.

Differences from the OG are:

QHD (2.5k vs 1080p)
WiFi 6
More lumens on the LEDs (72 vs 40)
WDR
Magnetic base
Smart Focus

and if you want to compare it against the V3 you get the above stuff minus mag base since it also has it but:

V3 doesn't have a LED light at all
V3 has slower and worse motion detection due to not having the Edge AI so it just relies on Pixel differentiation
V3 has slower notification speed than V4/OG
V3 has inferior mic/speaker and lower dB siren

Live video works without any subscription. Wyze cams do not support rtsp so no blue iris.

Still works well enough for me with sd cards plugged in and no subscription.

Does V4 have a formatting issue with the microsd card after a firmware update?

I thought I read a while ago Wyze requires a paid subscription to watch live video on any of their cameras. If you don't pay you just get a 5 second snippet or thumbnails, IIRC.

Is this correct?

I want cameras which support a protocol that Blue Iris can access to watch live video which I believe Wyze cameras do not allow.

Thanks for confirming that. Perhaps that was an old article I read when I got some Wyze plugs on clearance. What I remember reading was live video used to be free but Wyze changed it to a subscription plan so you could only get 5 second clips or thumbnails through your phone/app. Either I'm remembering what I read wrong or maybe Wyze listened to complaints and changed it back to allowing live video.

Nevertheless, I don't want to have to use 2 apps (Blue Iris and Wyze) to watch cameras, so I guess Wyze is out.

I am seeing $15 back on $100 - did the discount change since you posted earlier today?

15 second videos with 5 minute cool down periods, which is the way it's always been. I've been using these cameras since the V1s. I personally pay for the annual subscription, but I have a lot of wyze cameras so the cost is easier to accept.

You're remembering wrong. Wyze has always been free to watch live from the app. It doesn't have live view without the app unless you pay for it. It used to be v3 and older gets 12s clips to view when motion or sound is detected but v4 and newer stuff requires sub to watch anything other than a still image, which you can get around by using an SD card. You've already indicated this won't work for you but i just wanted to clear up any confusion.

Reading user reviews on reddit on the v4, and comparisons between the v3...
it looks like I can safely skip the v4. Looks like more of a cashgrab, and they said to wait for v10 for more significant improvements
