So I mentioned this deal to a friend and was told to stay away from these as there are numerous hinges failing in the MX4's on normal use and Sony does nothing to fix or warranty them.

I've heard good things about MX4 but a very quick search shows numerous problems with the hinges.

Has the issue been resolved???

I have XM4s and I believe the XM5s don't fold so that says a bunch.

However, I haven't had any issues with the hinges.

I also don't have double click issues with my Logitech mice so I don't abuse my tech.

in for one! went to best buy to test it out today. seemed to be way better than a 5 year old QC35 that's falling apart.

See my comment above. The clamping force of the XM4s makes them uncomfortable if you have an average or larger head. The Bose are much more comfortable.
