But how different 1Password is different in comparison to say Google which stores the passwords and use it where needed by biometrics (if the device has one) or PIN ?
Just trying to understand why go with these than the free easy convenient options from Google, samsung etc.
Thanks in advance
All of this is free and managed by a well-established, security-conscious organization.
Could you educate me on what risks I might be facing by not moving to a third-party password management service?

It's been years since I switched from keepass, mainly because their iOS support was terrible back when I moved from Android to iOS (pro 4-5 years). I moved to the family plan for the shared vault feature, which my wife, daughter, and I use extensively. It's still a zero knowledge online vault that I don't have to manage and their security record (so far) has been good - much better than lastpass.
If it's just you, and you don't have a problem with the UI, or are a programmer and are happy to make custom extensions, I don't see much value in paying for 1Pass.

Two related risks
1. All your eggs in one basket. If your icloud is compromised then everything will be compromised, especially if you also use icloud for email.
2. Since it's synched to the cloud, biometrics are just for show and don't add much protection outside your local device. For example, if someone compromises your icloud account and logs in on another device, they won't be asked for biometrics to see a password on their local device. This is because biometrics are stored locally on devices and are never transmitted to the cloud.
Apple Passwords is built in now and saves me the 1Password $34/year renewal.
Could I export my current vault's, etc on my existing family plan...
Then create a new family account to take advantage go 50% off...then simply import my old data (original 1password data) into the new account?
Is this a solid plan or am I missing something here?
