Basically they want you to dig through the garbage and find more stuff to buy so they designed it to not be searchable directly on purpose afaik

2 part story. [Part 1 Backstory] in the 2000s Google was being sued by everyone in media / tv due to YouTube. In the early 2010s Google settled with everyone via adopting / coming to an agreement with media / tv of some standards for YouTube with pulling things down even if it was "US legal" to upload due to fair use and so on. A form of gentleman agreement, but there were multiple parts and Widevine is one of those parts.

[Part 2 Widevine] So google bought a company Widevine and created a multi stage system about the quality of videos, think 4k, 1080p, 720p, standard def (480p) and below. If a content maker like HBO, Warner Brothers, Disney does a contract with a 3rd party such as Netflix or Youtube about rules of video quality where you can not get this stream quality unless their are specific chips in the device, and firmware / software that talks to the OS of the device to make sure you are not downloading the video permanently to the device while you stream. Widevine is that stuff and while google owns the framework other people use it like tablets and Netflix. 3 differently levels of Widevine with the amount of copy protection with Level 1 being the best, Level 3 is the worse for Widevine certification.

In Sum fancy hardware in the device to make sure you are not downloading a copy of a movie when you rent or stream it. Many Video sites require it for lawyers only feel safe about piracy if the device is Widevine certified. Which is also silly for nerds have ways of getting illegal streams anyway *shrug*
wow that's such BS

i have a Lenovo Tab. it's perfectly capable of HD. but streaming netflix is unwatchable due to this crap and it not having the "right" Widevine support

is this one of the newer decent mediatek chips, i had a few of the verizon mediatek tablets in the late 2010s and they were painfully sluggish compared to snapdragon back then

Will this work with the t-mobile 30GB $10 hotspot plan?
I was about to ask this as well. If it does work, could the tablet but used as a hotspot for other devices?

lol that would be my next question also, since my current hotspot doesn't do 5G.

Never used the Woot app before but it is horrific. How do you find this item on their app? there is not even a search function. And on the woot website, i am signed in through my Amazon account and added it to my cart, but when i go to the app, which I am also signed in through my Amazon account, it's empty! And when i browse the app through the tablet category, they just have Amazon, Samsung and Apple tablets. WTF??? The only reason i even installed the app is to get the additional 20% off
If you use Firefox as a browser, you can click the menu on the top right after the website pops up and "open in app"

I know it's not in the same price range, but is the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ (64GB) [samsung.com]) a much better device than this or is it pretty close? I know it's only Wifi, the screen is an inch bigger and it has more storage space, but overall, how would you compare it, like the speed and how it functions and everything?

you can't compare the performance of a dedicated hotspot to a tablet/phone with a hotspot feature.

Since my current hotspot is only LTE and I get about 10mbps max, I'd take a chance with a 5G tablet being faster.

specs are crap, but this is the cheapest way to utilize the t-mobile $10 hotspot sim card plan on a tablet. otherwise, an ipad of > $400 is needed?

I finally was able to add it through their app, the only way to do it is to do a search through their FORUM section in the app. This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. What are they even thinking???
Download the app. Click on the link from slickdeals. It should open the item directly on Woot.

Thanks, but I already got it to work and purchased it. I just did a search for this tablet in the forum part of the woot app. Its wild how they make you jump through hoops to just find an item.

10% cash back at Retail Me Not - their phone app wasn't working properly, so I just went to their chrome website on my phone and did a search for woot and clicked on the link and it took me right to the woot app, so hopefully, it worked.
