I've bought this and can only get one of the DP ports to work at a time. It will not support the dual output, at least not on my 4K@60 LG 880 Ergo-Arm dual monitor setup. That said, it's not that big of a deal as I have it connected to an Intel NUC 8th Gen and simply use the HDMI 2.0 out directly from the computer to connect my primary monitor and the DP out from the Kensington dock to my secondary monitor.

Does get a bit warm.. but at least its silent. All the other ports work which makes it pretty useful.

Just bought the CalDigit TS3 thanks to another SD post.. so will be interesting to see how this compares with the TS3.

Well that's close… most laptops can accept up to 60-65w. However this will likely work fine as the laptop will receive enough power to both power the machine and charge the laptop battery at less than it's max rated speed
Will it cause irreparable harm to the laptop???

None at all - it will just charge at a slightly slower rate than the laptops fastest capable charging. If you're not taxing the machine (from a performance/power draw perspective) you'll likely notice no difference at all.

Don't worry

Why not get the dell tb4 dock instead, which can be bought (used) from ebay b/w 90-100. More future proof

For M1, M2 and M3, only 1 display will work. For 2 displays, it will only be mirrored only.

Yes and no. Some need well beyond 65 like the MacBook Pro, however many laptops live off of about 45w, however they ship with power sources that supply slightly more to provide a buffer (usually at the 65w range)

Frequently returned item. No go for me. Good luck y'all!
This is often the result of people not knowing what they are buying

Why does a MBP need > 65W?

Just because a larger charger (I see 70W and 140W) is shipped with them doesn't mean a 65W charger is insufficient. Will it charge slower than the Apple charger? Sure. Will most people notice? Likely not - their battery won't charge to 50% in 30 minutes, for instance, but otherwise they'll be ok. If a 16" M4 Max is at 100% CPU, it probably won't charge at all at those times. Otherwise, it'll be fine.

That is 100% correct, tested on Dell WD19 TB3 dock, that is the exact behavior on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro (two screens but mirrored, so pointless)

I have had this for over 5 years now. I originally ran a 2018 Macbook Pro on it, then an M2, and now an M3. Using the display port, I can also power my 49" monitor with no problems on my m3 Mac. I paid the full price for it back in the day, and no issue other than it does get hot. I grabbed a 2nd one for my work XPS from this deal.

If anything it will be gentler on the laptop, much like phones can reduce their battery lifespan if 'ultra-speedy' charging is used too often, laptops can build up heat when rapid charging. A 60w power source is enough to run all but the biggest honking gaming laptops at full tilt and whatever power is left will be used to charge the battery (albeit at a slower rate than the max watt input rate)

Not that great of a deal. I've purchased a few of these in the past for $54 for my job. One of the ones from July already broke (one of the DP ports failed).
