Bought and returned this in the last week - the color was extremely yellow and viewing angles were really really bad. It looked like it would have been good but probably got unlucky with Hisense's QC. Luckily Amazon offers return shipping with free pickup too.

I'm doing the side by side test inside of my home of the Hisense u7 and the TCL Q7.
Both are ridiculously bright and only imagine how bright the U8 is.

Exactly. No real difference between UN7 and UN8. Get UN7 for under $500 or buy an OLED. That's what I'd do.

I dunno, there's a pretty good comparison on YouTube, contrast and black levels seem way better on the U8N. I feel like it's worth the $200-ish price difference.

Yea I read about the poor viewing angles on rtings, but all of the other features/quality look good, especially the price.

Viewing angles aside (probably won't be an issue for me, as all seating is directly in front) I am giving this one a try, mainly because of the price. This TV edged out the comparable TCL model by a bit on rtings

Worst case I just return it, but then I miss out on buying an alternate at a great BF price...

Two of my friends have this TV as bedroom TVs. It's pretty good. For $650, it's a good bedroom TV. If you're a gamer, Idk if it was just the game I tried on it (Modern Warfare 2 2022), but playing it at 120hz on that TV, on PS5, felt sluggish for some reason. It was strange, and I've never experienced that while playing anything at 120fps on my C2. 60fps felt fine on this TV. The black levels on this are good, but the color looked a little washed out to me. That's on both friends' U8 TVs. The OS and menus were responsive. If this is your price range, I'd go with this over a lot of other TVs in this range.

2 of my friends have this. You can read my other comment about it for my personal experience. It's not a bad TV by any means. This is on the higher end of "you get what you pay for." You can definitely do worse for this price. If I was going to get a non-OLED, this is what I would probably get. Also, I only watched it straight on, so I didn't notice any problems like yellowing or whatever.
