Im pretty much guaranteed to get the Mac Mini M4.. so really wanted to hold out for a TB4 dock. That said I've wanted this thing for 5 years now and this is literally the lowest price I've ever seen on it.. so I got to pull the trigger. It would be nice to see the TS4 drop to $200 range, considering TB5 is now available on the Mac Mini M4 Pro.. that said this TS3 does everything I need to do including 4K@60hz which is exactly what my LG880 Ergo-arm dual monitor setup will max out at.

From everything I've read over the past 5 years this is the best, most reliable to TB3 dock on the entire market.

Only DisplayPort 1.2, so you aren't going to get high refresh rate if you want high res. Fine if all you need is 4k60.

Ts4 has not gone on sale which is surprising. TS5 is in the works as well.

Yep, I've had this for about 5 years, driving a variety of MacBook Pros and 2x 4k 27" monitors, and it has been stellar.
Having a single cord to connect is amazing.

I own this, and have for 2-3 years or so. Works very well, no issues.

Don't know about this one specifically but I have a previous version that's been solid for many years

I got the Anker version for $159 a few days ago. Still same price. How do they compare? Reviews seemed favorable.

I have the same question for the same reason. Have an LG Gram Pro on the way for work and my 2020 TB4 intel MacBook Pro.
Also have 2 of the LG 4k monitors from the Amazon deal coming.

Tested this on multiple MacBook pros (2021+)…This thing is hit or miss, got one from work, it works good for the most part but its just very unreliable if you're plugging in anything besides the basics (webcam, mouse keyboard headset). Drops the ball and disconnects with multiple hard drives, disconnects after a few minutes of using a 2.5gbe or usb c dongle, or any additional usb hubs. Plus got to buy additional dongles if you want to use HDMI…. It's very nice build quality but I've honestly seen better more reliable connection from cheap 20 dollar usb C dongles/hubs.

And each port is not dedicated, it has shared ports on different buses so it is pretty misleading speeds for the most part. See the band width diagram https://www.caldigit.com/ts3-plus...d-diagram/

I've had this exact model for years and it's been solid. This is probably the best brand you can get for a TB dock.

Can someone educate me on how this differs from something like a Dell TB16? Used ones are available for under $20 and appears to be compatible with non-dell computers(including non-intel MBPs).

This is truly the "champagne of docks". I've tried them all as part of pilot program for our company (to be used in conjunction with our work-issued Macbooks) and this was far and away the absolute best. It was the one that "just worked"... no random disconnects, no weirdness, just spectacular.

we purchased 40 units in bulk directly from caldigit (who are based in California) and they were awesome to deal with. i cannot recommend these guys enough.
