I just want to check: we can use the giftcards on sale at Costco for $40 to buy Nintendo vouchers, right? We can buy 2 giftcards from Costco for $80 and purchase the $100 voucher and then get the 2 $59 Nintendo games the kids want (all for the $80 at Costco). I think that's how it works but want to doublecheck. Thanks! ps That's a great deal!
This is what we've come to realize. Also, digital gets locked to an account, you can't transfer it or sell it. The age old problem. It's nice to save a few bucks on new releases but having a physical copy has so many advantages.
The one disadvantage to physical games is that they are easy to misplace, especially with kids, Those cartridges are so small! (Or you leave them at home when you want to play on your switch somewhere else).

This doesn't seem worth it, not every game is available for the voucher. And they expire after 12 months. It seems the best time to use these vouchers are when major releases first come out. Like for example if Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came out at the same time, you can enjoy two blockbusters at launch because the price won't come down for a while.

But almost all of the games go on sale at one point (whether digital or physical) so you're not really saving all that much.

I've got a bunch of Nintendo eShop money from these deals in the past. The problem is, digital games never seem to be on sale at eShop like they are at other stores...
Dekudeals.com will show you price history. There is a gray area trick of changing your zip code as well.

The non-nintendo games go on sale pretty often, there are a ton of great titles out there, especially from smaller developers. You can find the deals at Deku Deals.

There are always a ton of great deals on Christmas and the day after.

For anyone looking to do this specifically for Tears of the Kingdom, it is currently on sale for $30 at Walmart for the digital version. Lowest price ever.

Also the following are on sale for $34.99 at Target digitally. Super Mario's 3d World + Bowsers Fury, Kirby and The Forgotten Land, and Pikmin 4. All lowest price ever.

Also Yoshis Crafted World is $29.99 digitally at Target. Also lowest price ever.

Just saw these pop up on Deku Deals yesterday for Black Friday. The price probably won't last long so I'd snag them now if you are interested in any of them.

I get the point, but I find switching the switch cartridges to be such a huge PITA. Plus they're so small, they're ez to lose track of.
I agree. Carrying a dozen little switch cartridges everywhere got old real fast. I go digital whenever I can on the switch because it makes portable gaming so much easier. I'll still buy a physical copy if it saves me money, but it's not my preferred method.

Isn't this the normal price for these, or are they normally $45 each?

Considering they're getting ready to reveal the Switch's successor and have committed to backwards compatibility and carrying your account forward, it's probably a safe bet to get some credit at a discount for some next gen games. Even if not, there's enough I want to get for this to be worth it to buy a couple.

More speculative, but if they keep the voucher program going for the new console, that will really add up.

But with digital you can own one copy and play on two systems. One home and one logged into account that owns digital copy.

Lately I've been leaning towards physical as well for one simple reason. You can move the physical cartridge from switch to switch in the same household easily.

We have two switches (a lite and an OLED) and my kids both insist on playing on their own profile. Makes sense - it has their saves. But problem is that Nintendo lets you register only one switch as the primary one. That one lets you play all digital games on any profile. The other one only allows digital on the account used to purchase the switch (which is mine). It is such a pain because now I have to keep on deregistering and registering the switches as primary based on whether the regular one wants to be used or the lite. Logging in and out multiple times gets to be a pain. This was a real boneheaded move by Nintendo. They ought to allow an easier way for digital games to be played on any profile within the household.

Drove me nuts this holiday season - both kids want to play different games on the two switches but they can't cause Nintendo will allow only one switch to use their own profile, while other switch has to use my profile (which both kids refuse to do; one of which is a toddler and just wails over everything).

With physical you can just hand each kid the game of their choice and you're done.

Wait till you have kids who insist on playing on their own profile cause that's the one with their saves. You can't do that with digital, even if they want to play different games. With physical you can hand each kid the game of their choice and you are set (See my comment above this post).

I have 3 and we've been doing this both on the switch and Xbox without issues 🤷
