Damn, it would appear I paid $100 too much for mine. Just a warning here for those with no experience, if you are buying this for Dirac, don't! Dirac is just another garbage auto tuner for those that don't know how to tune. Great receiver at a great price though otherwise!
Most PROs and consumers who have tried Onkyos AccuEQ vs. DIRAC beg to differ... including myself.

Can you please tell me why you feel that way about Dirac?

Dirac is a big enough deal that Denon offers it on their receivers?

I have had all brand receivers and Dirac has given me the best sound, by FAR. Second is Sony's room correction.

Sure.

Dirac is a very forceful dictator that takes almost full control of your system while removing most of your control in the process. It auto tunes for crap! It created a giant hole in my center channel and then laughed at me when I tried to fix it. It threw my front height speakers out of phase with a horrible frequency response, it set the wrong crossover points on almost every speaker, all the levels were way wrong, and I'm sure it set the distance wrong as well but it's measured in mili-second not feet, so I can't be totally sure about that.

The software gives the option to manually EQ, which would be nice if it actually worked! This garbage recalculates every adjustment and just makes up it's own, so it's about pointless to even try. Yeah I really quite hate the stuff, if I had paid for it separate I'd be demanding a full refund! But, giving credit where it's due.... Dirac did a great job on my sub!

All I ever need or want is just complete and total DSP control of my system. All Dirac does is remove my control and force me to accept it, and well, I do not accept!

I didn't say one was better than the other, I only stated that Dirac is just "another" garbage auto tuner! Neither one is worth a dime let alone a dollar to me, and I do own both! But at least AccuEQ doesn't cripple your system like Dirac does.
That's fair. Everyone has its preferences, and this beast of a receiver gives you enough adjustability to go full manual. My case is different, Dirac calibrated everything perfectly for me, made correct crossover points, and all speakers sound clearer, especially the center channel. I do calibration via UMIK-1 and pc... maybe that's the difference? I know i won't be able to calibrate better than cloud based AI algorithms.

UMIk-1 and REW is all you need to do way better than some wishful thinking AI crap. Some folks are real happy with Dirac, but most are not measuring before and after to see what Dirac has actually done to their system. I measured mine thoroughly before and after so I didn't have to think if it sounds better since I could prove that it measures worse. If you like Dirac, cool, I'm glad it worked for you. But if you have not checked your system with a stand alone program like REW, then you might want to. The results may surprise you.

You do realize the "Dirac" included in this does none of their correction/integration with your sub.
It does it for the bass from your loudspeakers then uses the bass management in the AVR to calculate and integrate it into the system.

You would need to add DLBC to give them the credit.

BTW what Dirac and systems like it do(software/algorithm) is not measurable, not going to show up on a graph.

FYI if you don't like what Dirac does, you definitely won't like much better RCs like Trinnov/Room Perfect especially for the cost!

It's because as it's been pointed out the Pioneer LX805 is popping up for $1500.

It's basically the same AVR, there would be no real audible difference.
