Anker is a reputable brand for powerbank/chargers etc but this surge protector is more like a power strip. It's rated voltage camp is 1200V. Kinda high. You want this number to be lower. At least under 500V

If you actually want a good surge protector get one that has 330V clamp. But they usually cost twice as much as this anker.
Same model for $19.99, also from AnkerDirect and no Prime required.

Walmart also sells for $21.50 (clip $7.50 coupon) for those with Walmart Plus.

Further concerns. This subject product according to Wirecutter:
"The 12-outlet Anker 351 Power Strip performed dreadfully in our testing, offering no surge protection whatsoever."

Also, for anyone wondering the APC power bar someone posted earlier in this thread is a great deal and has a 400 clamping voltage. Excellent for the price. It is sold out now tho, based on his comment and the price.

This is not really a surge protector, but a cord extender.

I got one from a previous deal. The USB C port doesn't seem to fast charge even though it says it does.

Anker, TaoTronics, UGreen, Baseus, etc... are all the same. Anker became popular when Amazon banned a bunch of the other brands, but not Anker. Anker did some better marketing and reinvested profits in more marketing. Smart business really, people will buy anyting. Just look at Apple airpods, they use the lowest quality codec, but command a high price like most of their stuff. Marketing. Apple marketing is the best in the business. I bet your story of Anker is pretty close to accurate. Which is great for the owner of Anker. The moral of the story for all, do a little research and understand what specs matter. Specs, especially the ones they don't list on the website or package mean everything. If they don't list the specs you need, you know why.

"Anker, TaoTronics, UGreen, Baseus, etc... are all the same. "

I didn't know that, so thanks for the update.

I actually can't stand apple (but I liked ipods for audio books/music, RIP). They survive off pure gall and over charging extremely ignorant and gullible people who think apple is a status symbol (fooling these people is apple's real skill. "There's a sucker born every minute").

I don't use wireless earbuds by any brand (They're all mostly throw away). Give me a $5-10 pair of wired earphones and I'm happy. When I see someone with those ugly white airpods hanging off their face I never think "Oooohh those are so cool". I actually look at the person with utter disdain for their stupidity.

PS - apple phones are dirt cheap to manufacture, as are all their products.

Can you explain what this is? I thought joules was the rating to look for in a surge protector (higher being better).

You have it correct on joules. Higher is better.
Joules rating on a surge protector would tell you how much of a load of devices you can feed with the surge protector. This surge protector has 12 outlets, but that does not mean that you can plug 12 air conditioning units into it without expecting it to fail.
The clamp level tells you at what point the surge protector decides that the incoming voltage from the wall is at a surge level and the surge protector does its "protecting".
A lower level, such as 330V, would mean that the surge protection kicks in and does not allow that power surge to go to your devices and potentially damage them when it senses any incoming voltage above 330V.
If the clamp rating is 1200V and your house, or at least the individual circuit that is feeding the surge protector, gets a surge of electricity below that 1200V level, then the devices plugged into the surge protector will receive that voltage.
Like s333ickdeals said above, if a surge event happens between 330V and 1200V, then this surge protector would behave no differently than a regular power strip. It is just passing the available electricity through its circuitry and into whatever is plugged into it.

How do you think it compares to APC https://www.amazon.com/SurgeArres...072Q5KT5W/
It is decent with 400V clamping but TLP808B slightly better.

Researched a bit and ended up getting this one. I needed the screw holes to mount under my desk. 4000 Jules

There's a 12 outlet version for a couple bucks more.

I don't consider Trond a no-name brand. Go with the Anker if you it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling but given how it performed in Wirecutter's test, I'm staying far far away.

Im not going with the Anker one either nevertheless you are in a very small pool of people if you think Trond is not a well know brand. Ive been on Slickdeals for decades and I never heard of them.

You're right. If it's not on SD then it's not a real brand 😂
