Thanks and repped. I needed an AVR after mine died from a lightning storm. No more extra features for me. Surge came from the router and killed the AVR.

I've had two receivers die on me, one Onkyo and one Sony. I bought the Denon from Costco in case something goes wrong.

Denon has no clear dialogues, you always have to crank the volume so high to listen

I'm using Aperion Center speaker and the dialogue is very clear with Denon AVR.

I was confused by this.... sounds more like : Accepts Atmos signal and down-converts to 5.1

Terrible what happened! I'm considering the Onkyo as well… for my master bedroom.

Also what exactly is the role of Dolby Vision in an AVR ? The AVR is just a pass through from the source (UHD player or DV streaming) to the display - only these two need to be DV compatible. What am I missing assuming the AVR is spec'ed right for 4K or 8K ?

It needs to support it. If your TV supports it, your device doesn't than there's going to be an issue.
