Thanks OP. I am looking for an air fryer for my daughter who lives alone. The one at Costco was on sale for $140 but it is too big for one person. This is the perfect size

Does anyone know if you remove a tray on this while cooking does the air fryer and timer shut off ? I recently picked up the 8qt ninja dual bay from sams club , there are several things I dislike about it but number 1 is pull a tray while cooking and unless you hit a pause button it continues to function.

Neither shut off but it does lower the fan speed slightly, you have to hit pause of you want it to stop. I never had an issue with that, though, you only need to pull it out for a few seconds to shake it or flip it

Mine included a metal rack, so that you can stack while cooking , things like wings nuggets, scallops etc. it takes me a minute to remove the rack and flip top and bottom. If I'm cooking something on the other side it screws up timing if I don't pause I also feel like it's kind of dangerous for a empty bay to be running empty. I was very excited to upgrade my air fryer and I'm not completely disappointed in the ninja I just think they could of done a few things better. The beep I think is very annoying ( too loud) when food is done or when you first turn it on . If you want to reset a side timing or temp after pre heat you must hit several buttons to do so or let the timer on the side expire before, I often hit power and start over if I could just hit the bay 2 button and reset it be more convenient.

FWIW
I bought the 10qt when it was ~120 at Costco. I wanted something bigger than our 8qt. The footprint is substantial but the 5qt/ea baskets were too small for our needs though so I returned it.

I just returned the 11 qt flexibasket mega zone version to costco after less than a year because the crisper plates started this weird pitting and flaking out of nowhere. It's a big 11qt bin that has a divider to make 2 5.5qt baskets and that worked quite well for our family of just 3,the removable divider to use thh entire 11 qt basket was great. It looks like that model might be discontinued though, I could a only find refurbished versions. I decided to instead get the gourmia 8qt from Costco and so far I'm happy with it. It has an extra multipurpose tray that offers a second tier (also used for broiling so food is closer to the elemeny) and I've found that's very useful to cook 2 different foods at the same time. Has to be the same temp, which is the downside but if I out the food that needs the higher temp on top of that tray then it works out very well. Regardless, I could buy 2 of those for way less than the bigger ninjas so that's my plan if I find myself needing more space.

That's the one we went with. Had a 50 off of 125 Instacart coupon so I didn't mind paying the premium over the very similar Walmart $35 one and just picking up some other Costco items with it.

Compared to our last Chefman—
- annoying that it defaults to 400/20min and yet it cooks so much quicker. I don't know what kind of food you're air frying for 20 minutes in this thing but it can't be even a godawful amount of frozen fried chicken because that will be burnt to a crisp.
- annoying that the default is to preheat.
- the bin is somewhat clumsy to go back in after pulling out.
- the first tray is good in there which I appreciate but can be annoying to try and pull out while hot (I like to wipe the surface down asap)

For the price I really shouldn't complain. Basically I just need to get over not being able to change the defaults or presets, and maybe explore the presets instead of doing my own settings every time.

Great idea on the buying two. Maybe I'll see if the Walmart version is still on sale laugh out loud
Or search for the flexibasket

Where did you order the replacement trays? I need to replace the ones in mine as they got warped from a nearby toaster heat.

I probably should've looked around a bit more though. That price seems way too high for two trays. I measured the dimensions of my old trays before ordering. These fit fine, but they should be less than half the price.
