- the ultra-sleek form factor (for a gaming laptop)
- the OLED screen (something Lenovo and a lot of other OEMs didn't offer in 2024
- the build quality, finish, and overall wow factor that such powerful hardware can be stuffed into this thin chassis.
The major problems that most of those reviews (like Jarrod on YT) don't seem to talk about or else gloss over are:
- the lower performance relative to the competition, especially in extended heavy-use sessions. That thin design has a cost in thermals, and even with the vapor chamber on the top-spec, there is simply no getting around the laws of physics
- *edit* very limited upgrades. This 16" model does include a 2nd ssd slot for upgradable storage, but Asus' recommended spec is limited to 2gb each! Some owners report being able to use 4TB drives in the 2nd slot, but no guarantees. Must be a power delivery or thermal issue, but kinda ridiculous for such an expensive and premium laptop. The ram is soldered on board and you're stuck with whatever Asus installed.
Still, with all that said and future tariffs looming, for the right price I'd be tempted to bite on a min spec of 32GB+, 2TB ssd, & 4080 or 4090. Best Buy wants $3k for a 4090 w/ only 1TB and 32GB ram. Hard pass.
That said, the soldered ram is indeed a huge negative and definitely something to consider if you go this route.

I really like the Asus Zephyrus form factor more... the better speaker setup, oled... But IDK If I can shell out another $700. Is the AMD processor worth it? Reading better battery life, performance, etc?
Edit: I just bought this open box excellent from BB.com which should be delivered later this week for 1,917.99 before tax.
What do you guys think?
