$500 MSRP for a 4tb drive. It seems like most "deals" consist of inflating the MSRP to make it seem like a good deal.

Reviews for the tforce pcie5 drives are lackluster. Allegedly the nicer (990 pro 850x) pcie4 drives outperform in random reads.

Absolutely, too many retailers are posting day one MSRP prices, i.e. prices that the product will literally NEVER be at again, as the basis for "sale price". Noticed it on NewEgg boasting 64% discount on 4TB WD sn850x... but they had the MSRP listed at $700, so yeah it was the same $250 price it had been long before the "sale" they had.

MAP policies aren't allowing retailers to lower the costs so they have to get inventive by basically lying about how much of a savings you're getting.

These prices are going to double up in coming next 2-3 months next year, not only for these drives but basically all other electronics.
