Is this a good brand? Is this a reputable speaker manufacturer that will be around for awhile?

Seems like there are so many speaker companies now.

(I've probably been living under a rock, but...) When I was younger I only remember having speakers like Pioneer, JBL, Sony, Cerwin Vega...

Now there are all these new brands like Klipsch, Definitive, Martin Logan, Bowens & Wilkers, Polk, KEF...

Are these all made in the same factory with slightly different specs and/or just re-badged? I need to be informed!

Definitive Technology has been around for decades and is a good audiophile speaker brand. They have very unique designs and many dedicated followers.

this is an advertisement posted by an SD editor for one of their preferred vendors so they get more affiliate cash back. they will promote it to front page status well before other deals so that they make more money.

Def Tech (Started by the owner of Polk) has been around for about 30 years. the other brands you mentioned like KEF and B&W have been available for 60+ years, ML is 40 years old, .

there are better brands available. Look at KEF, Monitor Audio, Focal, B&W,

Seems like a heck of a deal, I have never owned this brand but as a starter system this would be excellent.

I bought my Def Tech Studio Monitor 350s bookshelf speakers from a slickdeaks front page back in 2014. They sound outstanding. This brand is solid for the price point.

For $1350, I think you might be better off getting the D17's for $650 and the matching D5c center speaker for $300 and use the remaining $400 for a better subwoofer when on sale. Get some atmos speakers later. You might want white atmos speakers if your walls are white or to match the white D17 if you're gonna place them on top of the D17.

Im thinking you are right here. Possibly even signup for vip+ and use your reward points from ordering the d17s on your center channel order.

Thanks for the heads up, I forgot about the VIP+ points. I have $5 worth from when I bought the D17's for $700. It's not much but it's better than nothing.

Someone in the other thread said that PayPal has a 3% discount for Adorama.

The last part of your comment is such a blanket statement. These D17 speakers can be found for under $700 a pair right now which is an insanely good value. They are a reputable brand that lots of audiophiles hate on due to their other line of speakers that have built in "subwoofers" and that they embellish the specs on them. These demand speakers do neither of those things and are excellent speakers
